Fov bug

So I bought two copies of this game today, one for me a and a friend. The FOV is locked really low [like 45 or something] and there is no way to change it. I tried adding camera_fov: 90 to the camera files and then made a mod but the game just crashes after the splash screen.

Any help with changing the fov would be appreciated, It makes me feel ill playing with it this low.
