[Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check chapters [4] and [5] of Forum Rules.

Yeah, this forum does not seem helpful. The window that appears when you click on the application appears for half a second, AKA, it never loads. Not sure if it's a Windows 10 problem or something else. Any help will be appreciated.
wich Application ?

you mean the SCS Extractor, you dont click it, drag the base/def/dlc.scs into it and it will start to unpack it in the same folder where the extractor is

So much easier to use 7zip with the function 'extract it here.' Right click.
That will not work. 7zip will fail on the base. It isn't a zip-file.

Still not working. I was almost there, getting the base file done, but instead of letting me apply it, it gives me another error.

I WISH I CAN SHOW YOU, BUT APPARENTLY, I CAN'T SHARE PICTURES FROM MY PICTURES FOLDER, WHICH IS UTTERLY RETARDED!

I guess I might have to come back in a year or two to see if ANYTHING good changes with this website because, my god, it's so dated!

And for that reason you need to be very careful where you put the scs_extractor.exe file, and then copy the .scs files to that location and extract them there. If you extract them in their original location, you will make a huge mess that will only confuse you later when (or if) you try to clean it up.

No, it isn't. You need to put them online to post them here. That's the way it works. Try free image hosts like Imgur or PostImage, they're free, work well and are painless to use. And please, turn your CAPS LOCK off. People think you're screaming when you do that.

Tulgar, there is no extractor for MAC. You would have to run a virtual Windows environment.

I did all the steps, but it still can't open the files... Open quickly and then close itself..
