[Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently
Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

How about, the SCS extractor is the only application besides D.A.R.T that can extract SCS# archives, while also getting the right paths and filenames.
Both of which only come in Windows binary flavors.
Better?

Just run the same tools with Wine I guess.
Re: [Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently
I am not able to run extractor.scs in wine!!!
Re: [Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently
scs_extractor.exe, not extractor.scs
And you may need Cpp runtimes to run it.

So there's no way to use linux and extract the base !? I'll have to give up editing, sad!
Re: [Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently
You can write your own extractor. There's sources available for all that.
If you are going to insist on sticking to Linux only and you can't use Wine then... No, i guess?
The same for Apple users.
But really, all the information you need is right here on these forums.
One in the D.A.R.T topic where it's source is hosted on GitHub.
And one in my thread here: viewtopic.php?p=644638#p644638
The reason nobody has made a linux extractor is because it works just fine in Wine or likewise.

I just would like a tutorial showing how to open it in wine, step by step, written or on video! Many are migrating to linux, if SCS, or a fan, has a tutorial showing, will help a lot, I even want to do tutorials, when to learn!

I can't seem to extract the official .scs game files any more, it's working fine with ATS archives but not with the latest (1.30) ETS 2 files.. Am I the only one?
