[Guide] How to extract base.scs and def.scs - Efficiently

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Have you tested this with WinXP Carl. In my version of WinXP Pro SP3 the SCS files, wherever they are on my PC they will be extracted to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>. But.. i am not your average PC user

Wow.... Thanks to all.I know, where to copy .def files, and how to use scs_extractor. Yesterday late at night I found the solution. To all fault Oculus version.
I uninstall the game, instal 1.30.2.2s and extract this files without problems. Perhaps, someone needs my experience.
.....There is someone in my head, but it's not me....

Hey I was trying to customize some parts of the EAA Bus Map mod for myself but when I use this extractor to extract them, the DOS window opens then closes but doesn't extract anything. It works fine with the base.scs . Could anyone help?

Regards,
Apoorv

Possibly. But it will work only as a mod ;)

Possible but why? First of all, you would have to find a tool that does that since the .scs files are not a standard format. There is no such official tool.
Secondly, you would most likely (i've never tried) have to contend with the checksums of said base files. tricking the game into thinking everything is as it should be.

Everything that is in base.scs is modable.
On extended hiatus.

Yeah, this forum does not seem helpful. The window that appears when you click on the application appears for half a second, AKA, it never loads. Not sure if it's a Windows 10 problem or something else. Any help will be appreciated.

So much easier to use 7zip with the function 'extract it here.' Right click.
