How to make Abass wheels paintable w/ game mechanic?

#1 Post by coolusername » 13 Jun 2020 17:51

As the title says, i would love to know if and how it is possible to make the Abass wheels (for tractor units, not the one for trailers) paintable in the mechanic
(instead of using 3rd party software, yes i know DaStig made a "guidline" but i don't understand these things without step by step instructions :D )
I love the wheels Abass made, but not being able to paint (a single colored version at least) in the ingame mechanic seems ridiculous imo :?
Yes there is 50k's wheelpack as well, but it has not all the wheels like Maxion and Alcoa and is lesser quality!

Add this line to the def-files which has a filename that ends with a "c"

Code: Select all

paintable: true
Haven't tried it, but I guess it will work ;)

@abasstreppas it only works when you also set the .paint attribute in blender, if they dont have it you cant change the color

Nope doesn't work. It gives you the color box on the right but nothing changes. Would have been to easy i guess :(
Tried with hubs and both "heavy duty" rims (grey and colorful)
But we are on the correct way i think :?
And i didn't know where to place the line so i just thrown it in  -> actually between "tire shift" and "look steel" at the end.

Ok, you also need to add "paint" to the material file. You find the material files for the rims in /vehicle/truck/upgrade/wheel/disc/abas_steel/materials/. Open the ones with "color" and on the first line add

Code: Select all

.paint
between

Code: Select all

env
and

Code: Select all

.fx
for an example, the first line in "rim_color_1.mat" should look like this

Code: Select all

material : "eut2.dif.spec.mult.dif.spec.add.env.paint.fx" {
Do so for all painted parts like hubs and so on ;)

Thanks 8-) , it does work, ok sort off :?
You can't really make them white, since "white" is the default texture i guess

Here the stock black hub is set to bright red, yet its dark because black is stock texture, or something like that :?
Rim is set to bright red, yet its slightly darker red, since base texture is grey

Here the custom hub is set to white, but base texture is red sooo...
Colored rim is set to red but base texture is... well, all the colors :D

Image

Here the custom hub texture is white (from a skin from you and DaStig :D) and now you can color them properly, so i think we would need a complete white skin for rim (and hub) with no fancy text and no two-tone? :?

Nope :D
Like i said the white textured hub comes from a skin by DaStig and Abass, but this skin also comes with a green-white rim (which is also in DaStigs dropbox, but with a green-white hub) which i don't use anymore, only white hub i use currently

the standard wheels have a normal AO bake, use this for the painted ones to replace the rainbow color
