how do i edit the file it is a steam workshop mod can i download the map as a normal file instead of steam workshop

You don't need to edit it yourself. DOWL (creator of the mod) is now aware of the way to fix it and will probably update the mod soon. If you really want to do it yourself then the mod is available on Truckymods as a normal mod.

Another way to 'fix' the issue, is by creating a new mod. It only should have a folder 'map' within it, and in that folder the file 'europe.mbd' from the ProMods Map file.
Put the newly created mod above the Afroeurasia Background mod in the Mod Manager.

That has to be the best way to do it. Shame I updated the Afroeurasia BG before I read this, oh well.

Recap: The Afroeurasia BG on Trucky mods has a version with this fix included (1.0-SF). All other map BGs have not been updated. To ensure the scale hack is disabled when using ProMods, load this above all map mods.
Note that when the Afroeurasia BG is updated again (to 1.1), the trucky version will be the same as the Workshop version, so once that happens you will need to use this fix with that version as well.

@alexhob123 Yeah I know, I've just updated to 1.41. But for the next few days I don't have time to update the load orders. So if you can't wait, just use the load orders of 1.40 as a base guideline for any mod that is updated for 1.41.
Also bear in mind that it's quite possible that some 1.40 map mods might just work in ETS2 1.41...
