[2.16] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision

SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Re: [2.12] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision
@xXCARL1992Xx that wouldn't work, because if you have more than one engine sound per truck you need to have more than one sui file and it creates a mess since there is no standardisation. Also you loose the ability to make it work with just the SCS engine files. And some people just want the sound, so that wouldn't be ideal.

Re: [2.12] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision
but wasnt the interior/exterior.sii the same, just differently linked ?
you would include your .sui to the SCS .bank and kriechbaum would just overwrite it with his sound link

No because the SCS engines are not set up that way. So sound modder would still have to mess with the engine files if he/she wanted it to work with SCS engines.
SCS could solve it by moving the files to engine_sound.sui like you suggested. I would love to see it. Maybe an idea for @Max, in order to make modders life easier.

Re: [2.12] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision
each engine now links its own sound (instead of former sound accessory). this was designed so. and we plan to use this mechanism and update sounds per engine as we will have more and better recordings hopefully.
if modder makes engine he decides what sound it will use. if another modder makes sounds he decides in what files it will be in.
sound bank rewrite would come most natural to me but if he does not want to, we can't do much.
if there will be include file or not is just technicality. so far we did not see any profit as indirection of single line rather blurs the function and saves nothing. and it won't help you, if the modder does not want to touch engine nor the include file.

Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

Re: [2.12] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision
then there is just hope they wont persist on this nonsense and just name them with default names like it should be for most compatibility between mods

I agree the default name should be used as much as possible. But people will need to pressure the sound modders for that one. I cant do anything about it.

Re: [2.12] VOLVO Drivetrain Revision
Pretty much.
Only place I can see where it make sense to not replace the original sound, is in ATS where most manufacturer sell engines in their trucks from different manufacturers (usually Cummins and the OEM options these days)
