New Mexico Discussion Thread
Re: New Mexico Discussion Thread
I think it indicates intended importance, but in real life I don’t think it always shook out this way. The major US routes, for trucking and otherwise, that I can think of in the areas I know well are almost entirely off of the 5’s and 0’s, unlike the Interstate system.

Re: New Mexico Discussion Thread
That is a bit generalistic tho and the era of the interstate system (and continued highway/freeway construction) has thrown much of this out the window - the best example of course is US-101. In terms of importance, well that is very open to interpretation of what constitutes an "important" route.supersobes wrote: ↑20 Oct 2021 21:17 Actually, that's exactly what the 5s and 0s mean in the US highway numbering system. This also applies to Interstate highways too. Highways that end in the digit 0 are the major east-west routes, these are US-10, US-20, US-30, and so on all the way to US-90. US-2 is also included in this, as it's the lowest even digit without the road being called US-0. The background paragraph in the article about the numbing of US-20 includes an explanation of this:
In case you lot didn't know, the general numbering of interstates is opposite to that of highways - interstates are numbered south to north and west to east, while highways are numbered north to south and east to west.
Never argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I just made a delivery to the airport in Albuquerque, and I was very pleased to see that SCS added the traffic signals to the ramps at the Rio Bravo Boulevard interchange!

Oh, nice! I haven't driven down there in quite a long time, so I just noticed now.
Re: New Mexico Discussion Thread
0's run East/West
5's run north/south
It was part of the interstate/US highway system designations in the.... 50's ( ? ) I think it was that far back.
So, I guess based off of that, I would say any routes, like US-60, are in fact (as defied by the US highway system designation) a major road.
But I'm just the dude playing the game, not the one making the decisions.

Re: New Mexico Discussion Thread
There is no real truck stop off exit 79 in Truth or Consequences though. But I suppose the gravel lot next to the Chevron fuel station could work. I see trucks parked there in Google Maps street view.
Re: New Mexico Discussion Thread
I finally got around to finishing discovering the new gray bits of road added with the phase 2 base map rebuild. I see there's now an exit on I-25 for US 64/87 at Raton with a sign for Clayton. I don't think they would have done this if it wasn't planned to get this road all the way to Dalhart, TX with Texas DLC.
Now I'm wondering if we'll also get:
Capulin Volcano
Sierra Madre Volcano
Des Moines, NM as a scenic town
Clayton, NM as a scenic town or even a marked one
Any new depots in northeast New Mexico
