Re: sleeping places
It's 11 hours driving + 9 hours rest. So the cycle has 20 hours, not 21. But if you adjust your biological clock after driving schedule, you're going to have a bad time. :B
I have approximate knowledge of many things
Re: sleeping places
It's still a 24 hr day though, the actual clock still goes from 00:00 to 23:59 so yes there are 24hrs in an ETS2 day, just because the driving time before a warning and the sleep duration time is set originally (or can be altered) as something other than 24hrs doesn't make the day anything less than 24hrs..
You could set the driving time to 1 minute and the sleeping time to 1 minute, it doesn't make it a 2 minute long day, the sun would be like a strobe
Basically under irl EU rules you are limited to 9hr driving (that can be extended to 10 hrs twice a week)
Also you must take a daily rest of 11hrs which can be reduced to 9hrs three times in any working week (the period between two weekly rests) that gives you a maximum shift of 13hrs (or 15hrs three times per week) over a six day period
However ETS2/ATS doesn't take into consideration shift time so there is no calculation of shift period verses daily rest period which yes irl have to add up to 24hrs (11hr + 13hr or 9hr + 15hr)
Because of the fact that there are no 'waiting to be loaded/unloaded' times or any 'other work' or 'POA' (Period Of Availability) or 'daily driving breaks' to take into consideration in the game the day is just simplified into two periods - 'driving' and 'rest'.

Re: sleeping places
I use the console command 'g_set_time 09' before I go to sleep, means I wake at the same time each day and drive through the night.

Re: sleeping places
I have my own created Extended Delivery Time mod that extends delivery times by 3, this allows me to take a more relaxed and sometimes more scenic route, it also allows me to follow DTR (Driving Time Regulations) I then use the g_set_time parameters to advance the time as and when required, to simulate either the driving break or daily rest periods.
This also works better with the fatigue switched off in game settings.

Re: sleeping places
Sorry guys I should have clarified what I meant. Of COURSE there are 24 hours in the "day", I was referring to the "job" hours in the freight market. IF I continue to use my sleeping/resting method with freight market jobs, I will end up delivering late. I tried it several times, driving for 9 hours only, and "resting for the 15 hours left of the day. Well actually it would be 14 if you allow an hour for your compulsory 45 minute break after 4:30 of driving. I was trying to keep it simple.
Of course pigbrother is right also, it works out 20 hours, not 21 like I said earlier.
But at end of the day, it's night time lol. Seriously, at the end of the day, I'm too stupid to change it with a mod, so I was extremely glad when WOT contracts came as they did. It allows me to "play" the way I want to play, and I can switch it around how I want just by changing the time.
Sorry for causing problems here.

Re: sleeping places
I don't like in-game night driving: my living room is ever so bright with a southwest facing window, it's really hard to see on my monitor. I would love to have the ability to set an alarm clock to wake my driver up at dawn.

I am also not a fan of night driving in the game, I hate having the lag lights headlights on. Plus, you can't enjoy the scenery when the sun is down.
