Poll: Choose (3) States you would like to see next
Re: Poll: Choose the States you would like to see next
I'm going to make a wild guess that in 2021 we see Wyoming and Texas.
I'm passionate about Mack Trucks, grew up around them as a kid.

Yep. When I change the polls after we get hints for the next two, the polls will get updated and I will finally vote for Texas. Texas and Wyoming will get my vote despite me wanting a boxed map. For 2021, I am thinking of it from a business perspective and not a fan perspective. Texas means too much to get East. Until SCS clears Texas, that stops one team from pushing East. If a 3rd map team has just began, I think by this time next year, a full 3rd team will be trained up and ready to apply to a project. So lets say next summer, a full team goes to Texas. That will be Summer 2020. That team has to the end of 2021 to make Texas a reality for 2021. That is 1.5 years that a full team can be on Texas starting next year if my assumptions came true.
Now take everything that the one person in Texas is doing now for the past 6 months. Add another year to him that person and that person will have been in Texas for 1.5 years doing a lot of work. Throw all that together and Texas can drop end of 2021 without rushing it. Along side Texas, I am voting Wyoming. The road network is not a vast as others. Wyoming could be fine with 3000-3500 miles of road. Texas should probably end up with 5000-6000 miles of road. The demand on Texas will be like no other. Texas has to be dense in every aspect that it can. The price should be high but the stakes are high too. They have to bring the A+ game for Texas.
If Idaho and Colorado are hinted, that means they both come off the board. I think it will be a landslide margin for Texas at that point. The battle would more than likely be second place. With Idaho and Colorado, Texas won't be too bad to bring on instead of Montana. It technically still won't be a L shape. To get from Colorado to Texas, the panhandle of Oklahoma really should be there. There is actually much less road to cover in the Oklahoma panhandle than it was to include US-95 in Idaho to get to Ontario.

Texas + Oklahoma could be a base map nr2, IF it is possible to have 2 base maps.
I am still not ruling out that combo. Even tho it would be gigantic.
Texas itself is good enough for a base map nr2.
At the moment, to be able to have 3 map teams, I think that Texas is the key.
Before the map is boxed up.

Yeah I think Texas is the key to 3 as well. It will be impossible to have 3 states per year until Texas is done. I doubt very seriously if SCS works around Texas just to get out 3. Texas is too popular to skip around. As soon as they get to 30 mappers like ETS2, take 20-22 and put them on Texas. Let 8-10 work Wyoming or what ever the other state will be. I just don't think it would be wise to do both Texas and Montana in the same year. I'd think Montana itself will take 10-13 mappers because of how large it is. It's not Texas busy but its big enough to need decent numbers. If Montana is that last Western state, it will be the last complex landscaped state. From there, things get much easier with the Great Plains head.

Regarding Wyoming.
The nortwest corner will be empty, except for US-191.
And it will not be useful until Montana DLC is released.
Or unless Idaho includes almost 12 miles of US-20 from Montana.
Unless either of these 2, then the Moran junction, would be the most northwest point of the road between Jackson and Dubois, Wyoming.
Cody WY, would be the westmost town on US-14/16/20.

Correct on Wyoming. Somewhere around here, I pointed out US-191 is the only trucking road allowed in Yellowstone based on the Rand McNally Atlas. With that said, there is some real good site seeing off of US-191 in Yellowstone. If I was SCS, I'd make US-191 and terminate it in West Yellowstone, Mt instead of Jackson, Dubois or Moran. West Yellowstone is just right out across the border from Wyoming and can be treated like they did US-95 in Idaho. SCS can't miss Yellowstone until Montana comes. Yellowstone is iconic and really has to come with Wyoming for as much as SCS can map.
Now if SCS ignored the US-191 only thru Yellowstone, US-14 does pick up at Wapiti if going thru Yellowstone. It could be like CA-120 and we face a fine or blocked access if we have a trailer. At least if we were just blocked with a trailer, we can still see Yellowstone as we bobtail it thru for a shortcut to pick up a trailer or to site see.
Good idea on US-20 though. Idaho should be in place and if SCS provides West Yellowstone, I-20 would be the perfect connection to tie Idaho and Wyoming together in the Northern territories. Besides, US-20 runs concurrent with US-191 anyways and US-20 takes us thru the Caribou-Targhee National Forest for some woodlands scenery.

Re: Poll: Choose the States you would like to see next
If SCS work on Montana & Kansas before Wyoming & Texas/Oklahoma, They can:
Montana:
Complete I-15,
Make I-90 drivable to Billings, Montana,
Make I-94 drivable to Miles City/Glendive
gives the player a choice between going via Pendleton or Spokane from Seattle/Portland and staying on a highway.
Kansas:
I-70 to Topeka
Have a dividing line for the two main teams making states.
I don't really care whether SCS "boxes" the map or not, I just want to see a more complete highway network, so I can avoid getting off the highways too much. IMHO, Wyoming would be best if it came after Montana so as to give the player a straight shot down through Colorado into New Mexico.

I will admit I do like your speculation on that would be the better way to go as far containing the boxed map layout & while also updating the base map standards.rannorgana wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019 22:14 2020 - Idaho & Colorado - Nevada Revamp

@flight50 regarding your comment about how you think it is unwise for Montana & Texas to be done in the same year i totally disagree on that. I do really apologise because i have disagreed with a few things you've have mentioned lately and i mean no disrespect by that, i just have a different mindset/alternative to what you and many other's have.
If they have the manpower like in the high 20's early 30's mappers like you think they might have by then it will be the ideal time the split them into 2 and have a decent number of mappers to each state. It will cover the 2 biggest landmass states in one hit and then can split the teams into 3 or 4 teams afterwards depending on numbers and push east at full scale ahead. Otherwise i would focus on doing Montana beforehand finishng off the PNW and then work across doing the Dakotas, Kansas, Nebraska & Oklahoma before doing Texas do keep the map boxed. During that time they could continue on the Pre Production stage of Texas and slowly add more people to it as time goes on. I know alot of people will disagree on my point of view about it but i like to think about it in a different perspective.
