america truck sim escorts

#1 Post by tdkid » 11 Jan 2018 12:48

american truck sim needs escort vehicles. in the US if a truck is over 53 feet long or more then 12 feet wide, it needs and escort vehicle and some are so big that they not only have their escort vehicles but also the police escorting them. I think when there is a sign on the back of the trailer that says over sized load, it qualifies as needing an escort.

ATS does not have official special transport as ETS2. There is no SCS cargo that is 12 feet wide in the game currently. If you have a mod, that does not count as SCS does not support mods. You are coming to this forum stating ATS needs already and you only have 2 post. A little advise, ask questions first on why things are like they are. Otherwise you will get flammed and people will not be so willing to help you. If you are coming here to rant, this forum will dish it back to you in return. Just a little heads up.

From personal experience, this is pretty accurate

I don’t necessarily think that escort vehicles should be in every day trucking, in the base game. But having a Special Transport DLC, with of course smaller differences compared to its european counterpart, would suit well with the concept from OP

If ATS had special transport, of course it would require escorts, so yes that is accurate to what the OP stated. But ATS currently does not have ST so there is no reason for SCS to implement it unless they give us ST DLC just as ETS2.

yes. I only have two post but that is only because I just registered a couple of days ago.

if this forum dishes it out at me, it will be their worst mistake ever. I can dish it out 10x better then anyone on here. my real life job is as a repossession agent so not one person here can upset me more then I can to them.

no I didn't come here to rant. I have played both ETS, ETS2, ATS and all of the original 18 wheels of steel games from SCS. there is not one truck in ATS that is over 12ft wide normally but with the HCP DLC the game does have cargos that are all over 53ft long in real life so this game needs escorts just like ETS2 does.

You are quite sure of yourself aren't you. Dishing out when someone is trying to help or explain to you is not the right approach on this forum. We are not a Steam forum here. I am sure your dishing out involves profanity. We all get along for the most part so coming here to dish out 10x will probably get you banned from the site. Just fyi.

You stated wide, wide cargo requires escorts. ETS has heavy haul that does not have escorts. It wasn't until ETS2 got Special Transport when it got escorts. I have witness heavy haul "oversized" bannered trucks on the highways here in Texas without escorts. Granted they are not 53ft all the time, but I have seen them. It shouldn't be until cargo overhangs from the trailer that will require an escort. I am one of the few whom is verbal about being disappointed in hearing no word on ST coming to ATS. I think ATS is deserving of the same treatment to get ST that will bring those escorts you desire but only if special transport hit ATS.

I would have to agree that ATS does not need escorts unless we get a ST dlc like ETS2. This isn't a "true to life" simulation, but something I would consider to be "simulation lite" which suits me just fine.

A lot went into making ST work well in the base game for ETS2, and it still comes with limitations. Just dropping in escorts here based on trailer size wouldn't work.

The only cargo I see getting escorts (when I see them in DFW anyway) are usually specialized loads and longer than average cargo. These are usually the likes of structural building parts, long steel beams, etc... Other than those, the only other time I've seen them was during convoys and that was about it really.

Nope. The average trailer alone is 53 feet, then another 10 or so for the truck...

I'd like a Special Transport DLC for ATS.
ATS is still behind of ETS2 in terms of features. It's very annoying.
It's not hard, it's just about adapting what's already available in ETS2. It's not like I ask for something that comes from nowhere.
