The idea is great but moving police cars would be too difficult to program I am sure. It depends to much on how the player drives in order to pass them. If the player is all over the road, it will be tough to pass them. All we need is an escort thru lights and the police along the way just need to actually block the roads.

Ah I think I get you now. So you mean instead of having them parked off the roads as they are now have them actually parked on the roads blocking traffic. I agree that would be really great to see.

I also agree that having them move to block the intersections would be very difficult to program. So most likely will not happen.

Yes you got it my friend, lol. What we have is doable. I understand the intent. Not perfect but it works.

Now that i think about it i can't think of a reason as to why they don't have the police cars in front of the stopped traffic.

Because i remember that when i looked in the map editor before they have sort of like specific markers for where the traffic has to stop at intersections, junctions etc. for when a special transport is in progress. So i can't see any reason as to why they can't just move the marker for the police car from off the road to in front of the stopped traffic.

Maybe i'm missing something.

We share the same thought. I just never made a fuss about it but it would so much more realistic. There are even escorts on the side. For whatever reason, I have no clue.

Ideally, police physically blocking vehicle pathways, with an officer waving us thru the zone is what should happen. The escort should be at least twice the distance ahead of player and the range the escort sees us behind them should be wider. If these few things happened, I thing ST would be near perfect. ST is challenging enough and sometimes the escorts tampers with immersion. Stalling out on an incline with a ST load is one heck of a task, lol.

I have seen request for longer ST missions and multiple days delivering them. I am not opposed to the idea. A few won't hurt. Do stage 1, one day and stage 2 the next. Set it up to reach a side road dirt rest stop or one of the newer large truck stops. Rest over night, have the escorts refuel you or call in a small tanker truck perhaps and send us on our way if too low on fuel. The larger the ATS map gets, the more people will want longer trips. Same with ETS2. It already has the map size to expand distances. Perhaps toy with the idea there first.

It would make it a lot more realistic. Yeah I've seen that they sometimes have the escort vehicles parked up on the side of the roads especially in ATS, I haven't seen it in ETS2 much. As much as they are a nice touch I really don't see the point in them.

An officer waving us through the intersections would be a very nice touch. I also agree with the escort being further in front of us as well, the amount of times I almost hit them when they suddenly stop. I also think it would be nice to have an actual escort vehicle in front as well as the police car and then same for the back. Maybe even sometimes have two escort vehicles and a police car just to add a bit more realism and variety.

I also would like to see the gap between the player and the rear escort increased as well. Several times I've tried to take a turn but ended up needing to reserve to attempt it again but I can't go back enough because the rear escort is in the way so I've had to reload from the previous auto-save.

Being able to rest and re-fuel would be great but I can see it being a challenge to add in. Personally I feel that for the time being the tiredness should be completely removed from ST jobs. Once on a job I stuck in one spot for a very long time and ended up getting fined for going over my driving hours a little before I arrived at the destination. Because I can't rest on ST jobs there was nothing I could do to avoid that.

I've only ever had the need to sleep during an ST when I've taken too long. IMO the time we get is more than enough. I have yet to hear from someone which is an ST route that is impossible to make in time.

@Bandit & The Snowman. I believe GT182 has that issue with not making his deliveries for Special Transport. He is the only other one I am aware of. I myself, haven't had the issue.

I think he's the only one, and personally I believe there's something wrong with his profile. And well, rest assured SCS will hear all this tips to add to next ST updates.. Personally, I hate when the front escort stops on uphill, or stops too fast.. I'd really like to see that improved, and of course all previous things mentioned that'd add a lot of realism. And yes, US map will get bigger, and we will want longer and more challenging ST jobs.. And like Flight50 said, just dreaming about Boeing and Washington keeps me awake at night.. So let's wait and see..

Out of interest can anyone direct me perhaps to a youtube channel that would help in understanding the turning arcs and maneuverability of the truck, especially with the dolly, I try not to take jobs with them even with the heavy cargo pack, because I don't know how to drive them, but it was magnified tonight, as I threw in the special cargo DLC when I got NM and OR. First special cargo was alright, a House from Farmington to Ranton, pretty straight forward. The 2nd from Soccoro to Tuson was a disaster for multiple reasons, not sure what I clipped coming into Show Low, but hit something, which took a bit of work to recover, actually didn't do too bad until I got into the outskirts of Tuson and screwed up the turn from the 4 lane to the 2 lane road that lead to the interstate. Didn't help that there was traffic right on the light, which got in my way trying to fix it, screwed up reversing even more.... I think I spent 20 minutes trying to get through that one intersection lol

So yeah if anyone could put out somewhere I could learn to properly control the cargo it'd be appreciated.
