Next ATS truck speculation
Re: Next ATS truck speculation
The infrastructure has to be in place for electric. Charging ports will have to be widespread. SCS would have to rework every gas station. In some cases, make copies and modify. If this Hearts has a charging station, it doesn't mean that Hearts over there will. SCS would have to make several copies and tailor to each location if they want to depict reality.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
with the update to the Cascadia parts to the "2022" i think is more a tunning pack personally what are the chances that they will do the same to the Kenworth t680 and put parts to make it look like the next gen? its not to much different.

Yet it was made in a different program. With the the new tech they do to make trucks I say it deserves its own model then just a copy/paste.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
It would honestly be the best opportunity to actually rebuild the 579 and T680 models and do the same treatment as the Cascadia by just having the next gen stuff as new cabins/accessories.
Re: Next ATS truck speculation
579 and T680 are totally different as compared to their previous models, they would probably add it as a new truck.
The 579 can get an ultraloft Cabin upgrade though.

Not really, the exterior cabs and sleepers are the exact same between generations, the difference being the hood, bumper, skirts, and some interior changes, all of which could be interchangeable accessories similar to how the 49X can be swapped with either SFA or SBA hoods.
Re: Next ATS truck speculation
Hood, bumper, mirrors and their positioning, lights, the entire interior, sideskirts (and the marker lamps), air vents, cab deflectors change significantly for both trucks. Engine options change too; 16 litre engines are no more a thing for both trucks.Almost everything has some degree of change here, do you still think that adding them as a configurable option would have any difference than building the trucks ground up? Moreover the chassis aren’t accurate.
This is unlike ETS2, where EL3 isn’t a lot of change compared to EL2, but Actros and Volvo are fairly inaccurate. Actros can bear a facelift, but Volvo should definitely be built ground up.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
The way they build trucks now, its a waste of time trying to rebuild the first 5 trucks using the current models. I'd much rather have the 2 new Paccar trucks that released this year. Tweaks to the older gens is feasible but rebuilding those when there's literally a dozen plus other North American trucks that can come....makes no sense.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
@harishw8r I'm not sure if you missed my point, but when I said get rebuilt, I mean actually rebuilding the entire trucks so that they reach the same accuracy as the new trucks in terms of geometry and then having the next gen parts as additional cabs/accessories. All the changed parts between the previous gen and next gen (including engines) is completely possible to have only for the respectable cab generation in game by using appropriate conflict_with and compatible_with lines in accessory def files.
@flight50 I know your stance on rebuilding trucks, but if they're gonna have new models for the next gen anyway, they already have 60-70% of the work done to replace the old inaccurate models of the previous gen. Why is this method completely fine to do with possible future trucks (Mack Pinnacle, International HX, Kenworth W990, etc) but not older trucks?
