I wouldn't say any of the trucks we've gotten (or are due to receive) have been "silly". If you have a license, you use it. If you're given a huge promotional opportunity, you take it. And the recent slate of trucks was otherwise motivated by getting every brand in the game ASAP, which has self-explanatory importance.

There's a lot of merit for the new VNL to be added, but you could make similar arguments for most companies. Peterbilt and Kenworth have even older and worse models than the VNL. International and Western Star are both missing their most "typical" truck options in favor of something more unique. Freightliner, while well-represented by the recent Cascadia, is probably the most popular American Truck brand and could warrant a second model for that reason. Mack's probably the only one you need to go out of your way to justify a second truck for, but there's still demand for the Pinnacle too.

I agree with the sentiment that the new VNL is probably the "best" choice once SCS is done with their present commitments, but I don't really see much issue with any truck we're likely to get. Even a left-field wild-card choice like the 9900i would still be fun from a "Wow, I wasn't expecting that!" point of view.

^Good post Sora. I totally agree. If the license is there us it. If the manufacturer comes knocking on your door, you don't shut it. Even if you want to, you don't. If you want more opportunities with (x) company, the only answer is yes (within reason of course). This is even more critical for ATS because its not as established as ETS2. If you want to get to where ETS2 is, you take advantage of your opportunities. Exposure is what ATS needs more of and you can get a lot of that by getting your foot in the door with more people in the North American trucking industry. They can help promote SCS just like SCS can help promote them. Its a partnership that can only strengthen bonds down the road.

I started driving the new DAF in ETS2, and the mirror less set up does help improve visibility from inside of the cabin. I wonder if that concept would eventually make its way to the North American truck market in real life.

Now that SCS has pushed out two new trucks in ETS2 in rather short order, I hope they will turn their attention to pushing out new trucks in ATS.

One truck and a half to be honest. Anyway they clearly know where they stand with respect to trucks for ATS. Every potential model was already existing when the particular brand was added to the game (Paccar companies excluded). So I guess that means lesser licensing negotiations and the trucks would definitely come when they are ready.

the one from Peterbilt is more an assistant then a full fledged replacement, may be because of US laws that dont allow mirrorless yet

If it is Kenworth of Shanghai Parker Group, I hope it is Kenworth W990 or T880, Freightliner of Shanghai Daimler North America Group, I hope it is Freightliner 122SD, Western Star of Shanghai Daimler North America Group , I hope it is the Western Star 5700XE
Hopefully in the future America Truck Simulator will add these trucks: Freightliner 122SD/Century/Columbia/FLD/Cascadia/Coronado, Kenworth T800/T880/W990,Volvo VNX740, International HX520/ ProStar, and MACK Pinnacle, MACK Titan.

Well I don't know the reason as well. But I like that way as well. You have a solid mirror and also a camera. I know the mirror cam is a reliable thing but if it's break then you'll have a manual system as well with that way. You know American people doesn't like digital things mostly. That could be also a reason.

The interiors of Freightliner 122SD, Western Star 5700XE and Kenworth W900 and Peterbilt 389 are the same retro dashboards. I think Freightliner 122SD and Western Star 5700XE still have the possibility of entering the game. As for this year's If you can’t drive Freightliner 122SD and Western Star 5700XE, it depends on the relationship between scs software and Freightliner and Western Star.
Hopefully in the future America Truck Simulator will add these trucks: Freightliner 122SD/Century/Columbia/FLD/Cascadia/Coronado, Kenworth T800/T880/W990,Volvo VNX740, International HX520/ ProStar, and MACK Pinnacle, MACK Titan.
