Next ATS truck speculation

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
Used trucks... in theory it should be good, but... How would it be added?
High mileage, some parts need repair... and that's it. After repairs it's as good as new. That's how I see it in the game and it sounds lame IMO.
I think used trucks should get mechanical or such failures more often than new ones. But, truck companies wouldn't like that I think, like they don't want their truck to look damaged.
So used trucks would just be cheaper, with no real disadvantage.
What could be nice tho is that when you buy a truck you can't switch big parts. Like the cab. If you buy a daycab, it will stay like this. If you want the same but with a sleeper or with a different chassis, you would need to buy another truck.
I would be more realistic.
So when you want to buy an used truck, you can't whoose the parts. And after, you can only change small ones, like fenders and such.

They might also have random color/tuning, like in SLRR
Re: Next ATS truck speculation
@jdwarfer good points and I agree there should be limits. No chassis changing but based on your chassis you could be allowed sleeper changes. That part happens in real life. In regards to failure, I think that needs to be clear in the license agreement. Manufacturers should understand its an old truck and out of production.
More failures and more maintenance should be in. No physical damage as usual though. More imperfections and the truck should definitively be a repair project. In the end, such a project should be more expensive than going brand new but to start, the truck is cheap, gets you from A to B but is not as reliable as a new truck. Most truck rebuilds are very slow because of the money required. To me, that is the fun part. You basically build the truck back to health.

My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

I like that idea and it is another way to waste money if you have too much. A fleet of used truck would make it more to reality.
Re: Next ATS truck speculation
I'd be happy to have all the options regarding chassis, sleepers and so on, just like with a new truck. There are frame lengthening and shortening projects out there, cab conversions (daycab<->sleeper + sleeper swaps), engine and transmission swaps (add remanufactured engines here), etc.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
I like to see the Classic Truck DLC idea. I always thought that Scania or Paccar may like the idea of Classic Trucks DLC. We already have new trucks as a DLC, so it can be implemented easy. Make just 1 or 2, sell it in a bundle with the tuning pack and there you go.
For people who runs only on TMP, it will be a must have DLC.
But, I think this might come up after all companies are on board.

Agreed. I am sure out of 7 companies, at least one would entertain a old licenses. But to be honest, I don't think its on the manufacturer. SCS has to want to do it. There a games with older trucks already.

Re: Next ATS truck speculation
I wonder if another big hurdle to getting older trucks would be finding them in pristine condition with original factory equipment for them to collect data/sounds from.
