If one doesn't like engine sounds and avoids a particular.....its imperative at that point. Because of Kriech's sound mod, I've been obsessed with ATS improvements. I wake up and go to sleep thinking about how to enhance ATS. Many of my thoughts can apply to ETS2 as well but I rarely go over to that side of the forum because of how toxic it gets.

I don't use sound mods at all. Mostly because music is what I play mostly

The truck is my music, lol. So its more critical for me to have a great sounding truck.

It's because he modded the hood, with the regular hood gets in the way of the mirror.

@Jatruck well it's an imperative mod. Personally I use imperative mods as well and Kriechbaum sound mod is one of it.

Not to sound like a smartass but ya'll know you can use the engine/turbo/exhaust sliders to tune the truck sound right? The X15 in the LT/LoneStar can sound pretty good and close to accurate if you play with the sliders. Same with the Mack MP (iirc) and the Cat engine in the W9. While I'm not advocating against sound mods or anything, SCS has upped their game on the sound.

I think some of the issue could be the SCS transmissions we have make the RPMs run on the high side, where the engine is making more racket than sweet cruise music when running a constant speed. Doesn't seem to be as big a problem with the 18 speed (imo).

@tigolebitties Yes we are fully aware of the sliders. Are you aware of how all Kriech's engines sound? Have you tried the mod? If you haven't tried the mod, there is no experience to speak on. Hearing them and using them are not the same. I too use to be content with default sounds, well before Fmod. Once I moved over to Kriech's sounds......there is no going back. There is a reason why people brag about Kriechbaum's sound mod.

I challenge you to make the default X15 as good as you can. Get it to where you think its perfect. Then go try out Kriech's X15 and then let us know how it turns out. 9/10, you won't even have to adjust the sliders much if at all with Kriech's unless you just want to emphasis something. I've used the X15 from Kriech's pack and its one good sounding engine. His mods takes the experience to a whole different level of immersion.

Transmission is an entirely different thing, the base sounds don't even follow the rise and fall of RPMs properly.

^Agreed. The rpm's is the disappointing part. I would be a tad happier if the default sounds at least did that. I could deal with my vanilla open beta profile easier when beta updates come. Kriech does rpm drops perfectly.

SCS just needs to adjust the sound to the RPM properly (In some cases), because when you shift gears, the sounds just cuts immediately to a lower/higher rpm... There is no fade effect in the sound. The worst case in ATS is the VNL, that truck has by far, the worst adjusted sound... If it had proper mixing, the VNL would be a much more pleasant truck to drive. The X15 can be decent if you use the mixing options in the menu.
