Without going into the editor, is it at all possible to employ a minimalistic fix like this, either with or without the red highway, that destroys as little of current Vegas as possible? You'd lose the main western thoroughfare and the weird road to nowhere in the southeast, but could leave most other things intact. I'm not going to say it's 10/10 realism, but I feel that as long that 515 is somehow present most of Vegas's non-road-marking issues would work themselves out.

Not too bad Sora. As long as 93 merges into 515 and 515 merges into 95, I don't care how they do it. My thing is, if they are going to make a fix, do it right. No point in jimmy rigging it to have to redo again later. Unless real life Vegas demolishes those three roads, ATS should be okay in the long run if they mimic current routing.

The one thing that I ask if SCS leaves parts of the current layout intact is that they update the road textures, road signage, and junctions even in the parts that they are going to leave. I would hate for SCS to do a rebuild of a city and call it "done" if things like that haven't been changed.

Well, I hope they DON'T. If you have been to Vegas in real life, it should be clear that this version 0.9 city needs a complete rework from scratch, maybe saving a few prefabs (buildings) and decoration (like those animal figures in the I-5 intersections). But there are too many roads missing or outright wrong, and that pseudo-monorail line is at surprising places... aside the Strip, which you can't even drive on, it just doesn't look+feel like Vegas. Well, in a nutshell, ATS Vegas looks like Vegas about as much as the (real) Paris resort-casino in Vegas looks like the real Paris.

I wouldn't say it's that bad. It's just a representation, of course it won't be perfect (even the newest, best quality cities have their forgivable flaws), but it's pretty decent in terms of scenery. All SCS would need to do to make it A-quality in my book is add the 515 so we don't have to crawl along surface roads when passing through.

Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

Agreed rbsanford. The scenery isn’t that bad. I have been on the strip myself. I spent 3 days walking it. In ATS, you can tell where you are when driving on the strip. Definitely not perfect but not terrible either. The forced driving on the city streets is the issue.

Speaking of the Strip, that would make for a beautiful drivable road. IIRC, it was originally open, but was closed off prior to release when people pointed out that trucks aren't allowed on it. I can't find any verification to that claim, but I did find this bit on casino deliveries. If Vegas is redone, there's always the possibility of adding a casino or two as a delivery point, even if the Strip is kept closed.

You guys can't have been there, but anyway. I'd agree on that the worst problem is the road/interstate layout, closely followed by missing landmarks and ill-fiting general architecture.

There's still hope that some talented mapper will precede SCS beautifying this place within out lifetimes. :D :D :D

If I hadn't been there, I wouldn't state that I have. I might be a lot of things, but a flat out lair to impress is not one of them. I am not about to post pics of my trip just to prove I was there though. But I have reference pics from my hotel New York New York all the way down to Treasure Island. Not to mention taking a lonnng hot walk down to the famous Welcome to Vegas sign past Mandalay Bay. I didn't rent a car as the strip and Fremont St was my purpose for going

SCS of course didn't model the strip very accurate but with all the large casinos and the elevated walking platforms, you can tell that they where trying to give a Vegas feel. Now that ATS is no experiment and proving to sustain some level of income, I am sure 2019 SCS would make easy and more accurate work of Vegas. So yeah I agree that a rebuild would be best, but a feasible fix would be correcting 93, 515 and 95 to be continuous.

I remember old strip like 1990s version was not like it was today as Las Vegas rapidly grew from the 1950s on like Phoenix did. Think you can keep current layout intact just use freeway to freeway connection I-215 to I-15 then removal old prefab with US-95 and Northeast quadart just add newer Hearts truck stop asset from Oregon and New Mexico DLC on US 93. Remember Las Vegas will destory anything old to with something new along the strip like Golden Nugget or the Hilton mini-me space needle
