That is correct. It is the part of US-101 between Olympia and Shelton at the point where it changes from a four lane divided highway to a two lane undivided highway. A couple things to note is that my truck wasn't in the median gore from the transition, but there is actually a crossover just before it. And, yes, since there is no cross street at this crossover, I was making an illegal U-turn here.
I don't know if 2sticks-noclutch or Vinnie Terranova should get the credit for this one as they both said it, so you guys can decide amongst yourselves.

Thank you Vinnie!
Was browsing earlier posts and found some with narrative, so I thought I might try it.
I had decided to stop for a bit and stretch the legs out when I noticed an overlook just down the road. A short walk in the cool evening air was rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the valley below. As I was soaking in the view the gentleman next to me remarked "My, ain't this pretty up here?" I nodded in agreement and we struck up a conversation. As it turned out , not only was he from my home state of Washington, He was a fellow truck who had retired from Gordon Trucking back in 2013. He had started with them in 1983 just before the GTI/GFF merger, and decided to retire after 30 years when Heartland Express bought the company. As we reminisced about 'the good old days' I learned he had purchased an RV shortly afterwards and now he and his wife spent about half their time on the road touring the country. Seems you can take the driver out of the truck, but you can't take the trucking out of the driver.

Saying goodnight to Earl and his wife, I walked back up to my rig. Briefly thought about spending the night but deciding against it, I fired the truck up. As the big Cat rumbled to life, I thought to myself 'Wonder what the view would have been like in the morning?' Shifting into 5th gear as I rolled up off the shoulder, I decided to send the drone up for one last shot...

Where did this pleasant conversation take place?

Just north of Lewiston, ID, at the Lewiston Hill Overlook?

Looks like Wolf Creek Pass to me.
The Journeys of Zephyr of the American West
Handy maps and diagrams.
Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

Wolf Creek Pass is correct, @rbsanford gets to post the next one.

The original nighttime view is similar to the cutscene for Wolf Creek Pass and isn't visible in cab, which is one reason why I added the narrative. It incorporates several clues from the lyrics of Wolf Creek Pass by CW McCall, such as a driver named Earl who said "My, ain't this pretty up here."
If you haven't heard it, this vid has 2 versions of the song. Original 1975 version starts at the 4 minute mark.

Time for a hint. The location is one of these red dots:
[ external image ]
Now time for a real hint: this scene is located on a highway with three digits.
