FMOD Discussion [ATS]

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

Underscore_101_ wrote: 03 Nov 2020 12:19 Not 100% sure if this is the best place for asking, but since it's about FMOD,.. :-)

Is there a way to preview sounds from a mod, other than playing the game?

Did a quick search on Google and this forum, but so far no luck.

I figure i need FMOD Studio so i downloaded the version mentioned in the first post and tried to open the bank
and/or guide files, but it wouldn't accept them, and in the open project the file
extensions were completely different.
There's a very good chance i'm just doing something wrong :-)

Maybe SCS changed FMOD studio versions, maybe the answer is somewhere in this thread,
but please forgive me for not reading through 229 pages.

The reason i ask is that for a personal mod i just want to put the engines i like in
one mod, or two if i decide to keep ATS and ETS2 separated.

I'm not a purist where engines have to be as close to real life as possible, in that sense i
just don't care if an engine is only used by Mack, if i like it i want to use it in my DAF,
i just want a nice sounding truck in the game and a few options so not every truck sounds the same,
but not a long list of engines i won't ever use.

I know how to port the mods and add trucks, just looking for an easy way to hear the sounds.

Hope someone has an easy answer, if it can't be done outside the game, or when it's really complicated
just say that it can't be done, i don't want to take up your time for something i won't follow through
when it's a ton of work.

Thanks in advance :-)

Rob
Dear @Underscore_101_

Well, you have an option to extract the >>> BANK <<< file.
This requires >>> Fmod Bank Tools <<<.
What you will find on the first page.
You can also download it by clicking on the link after the >>> FBS extractor <<<.
Here's a little guide

I hope I could help!!!!!

Hello everyone.
Since I see that it is FMOD thread, I appreciate that you can help me.
Maybe someone knows who I am and will say that I am a noob, but not all of us are born knowing xD.
I'm updating my mods for 1.39, testing with FMMOD2 2.01.05, but when exporting my project, the bank weighs less than 1.0 mb, and when adding it to the scs, it doesn't work.
in the game.log lines there is nothing referring to the bank or GUIds sound files, so I suppose the problem is when exporting.
Any idea what may be happening?
I have reviewed the 229 pages of the thread but I could not find something regarding my case.
Still, I appreciate your help

Did you make sure that the bank file is uncompressed in your scs/zip file?

@COGA72 - if you follow this post it will work as long as you are using a new 2.01.05 template as the base for you new project.

viewtopic.php?f=178&t=281124&start=2180#p1430680

If it was a compression issue it would have an error in the log.

the bank file is my own, I did it for my mods when it was necessary to update to 1.37xx, I have been editing it many times since FMOD was added to the sound of the game but until now this has happened.
It is added correctly, even if I edit it with the FMOD for 1.37xx it works without problems. The detail starts when I export it from FMOD 2.01.05.

I thought of that.
when 1.37 was released I used the template that scs provided and it worked, then I kept editing it with no problem.
when I change to FMOD 2.01.05 I can edit it, however, the problem is when exporting.
I don't think it is a compression problem, as there is no missing or incorrect file record in the log.
I will try starting with a new template, I thought that I could continue exporting the project that I already had working from 1.37xx

Thanks for your help guys

Re-read what I wrote, you need to start with a new 2.01.05 template every time and you need to start with it from the zip file level, unpack it and then start. Copy your existing engine events over, save it under a new name and you are good to go after re-routing to the new outside level.

In fact, that's what I did, I started from scratch with a totally blank 1.39 template, then I copied the events but it still comes out without sound.
In the log there is still nothing referring to .bank or .GUids, so I am thinking that it is directly with the FMOD.
Currently I also tried it in ETS2 1.39.01 where it is supposed to work, but nothing happens, still no sound.
