Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
I'm not sure if this has been previously covered as wandering through 115 pages was more than I wanted to do.
Las Vegas, Nevada off I-15. There's a brand new NFL football stadium interstate adjacent. It's what's currently a big field/rough area near the casinos. It would be nice to get that in game (as you can drive by stadiums/arenas in other states)

@interstate trav It would be a near fail if the 101/80 interchange isn't improved. With the way they map now, I don't see them cutting corners like the base map does imho. That one junction is key to how well the Bay Area will work itself out. Get that intersection in.....and then work things around it. The other way around doesn't work. San Jose implemented and a much improved Oakland is a must. Use the water..use the water..use the water. There's a whole Pacific Ocean out there that can slide things around to get more into California. Who cares if things are not centered where they should be on the map. Its not the first time things are off and it won't be the last. The critical thing is to have the right feel in the game, not how the map looks. The fun part is playing the game, not looking at the map. The map is only a guide. If SCS could scale up the game image map by 1%-2% percent (not the scale of the game itself), that just might fix some roads being off on the map. We just need ballpark anyways.
Los Angeles is going to be a beast. But honestly, I'm thinking that if they can handle DFW, they can handle Los Angeles metro area. DFW doesn't have the Pacific Ocean to cheat but I think they can make something great either way. I'd completely rebuild all of Southern California though. Realign all the roads and add density where there's space. So many junctions can get corrected and make that area relevant again. When Texas comes out, we can study DFW and even Houston to get an idea on what's possible for California cities. There's some biggg industry in California and ATS needs to get updated for it all. Several new industries and depots need to make their way to California. The blog said every city will get touched and new economy is coming so we'll see.
San Bernardino, I don't think it get marked but it should definitely be included. That stretch of I-10 in the Metro area is super urban. I'm sure SCS will tear all of Southern California out and start with roads first. Find out what fits. Get that part all buttoned up and then go in for the depots. What fit where and what makes sense. Introduce the ports and LAX would be nice. Use the water....use the water. Push them both into the water so that I-405 and CA-1 can have space. I-5 and I-405 work nicely together. Then we have I-10 and I-15. Work those in. Once those are established, find out what else can get crammed in that are California state hwys. 1,14,91, etc...I think getting all this is a ways away but it does bring a lot of hope for new vibe.
@Sara. Yes ATS started out at 1:35 scale. Now its 1:20. Thing is, the base map is still pretty much 1:35 like. SCS just spliced in roads by severing them to extend them. For the most part, the cities stayed the same until they stared reworking a few. The bulk of California though wasn't really touched. But compared to the new dlc's, the texturing, road assets and 3d terrain models are pretty inferior to new dlc's. Most people avoid the base map considering the quality beyond the base map. The entire map should be on par though.

My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

VTXcnME, ingame, that place is an empty slot.
So I think that the stadium could fit there.

@Sara If you're interested, here's what the map looked like just before they increased the size of the map and here's what it looks like as of the current update. You can see just how much was changed to even just the three states that existed at rescale.

@Bedavd looks like both links are the same.

For maps that show the rescale, the original rescale blog may be of interest: https://blog.scssoft.com/2016/06/the-rescale.html
For driving without GPS navigation: ATS Company/Facility Directory — C/FD
Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
It's crazy to see how much ATS (and SCS as a company) has progressed since ATS was released and the re-scale was achieved. It's the right time now (no matter how long it takes) to get California up to new standards in relation to the rest of the map. And that's an abismal work for the developers
Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Thanks for that, and yeah, I see now. I have only been playing since 1.36, so guess you could say, I'm haven't played for so long in ATS

Flight50 I agree very much, use the water, I drew a few maps and moved the coastline and a lot more fits, with Dallas isn’t surrounded by empty Desert? I’m sure they will cheat it, they did great with Denver I was wondering if they would have the drop into Denver look realistic and they had to sacrifice a few things and some towns but they got that in there.
I’m hoping for Los Angeles to have the 101 run it’s actual alignment and end at the 5 because the current alignment is where the 134 meets the 5, if you look at a map of Los Angeles you will understand what I’m talking about. Downtown should be visible and if a couple of streets are added in that’s great too. The 5-14 split has a massive truck bypass and I don’t know if it would make it into the game but it realllpy is a huge jct, and the 14 as a freeway and thank you for including the 14 in your comment, lol it adds how far out Los Angeles reaches to where there are track houses in the Desert outside of Los Angeles, and adding Palmdale and Lancaster as scenic Cities I think should happen. Mojave because it’s the original 14-58 jct and I would have it be deliveries as there is trains and Edwards Air Force Base is right there.
San Bernardino I’d definitely have as scenic atleast but I’d make it delivery or have Indio as delivery. The Coachella valley neds to be there. There is a piece of it there right now when you get on the 10 west from the 111 in the game where there is a RV park I honk and if you use street view on google look on the 10 west of Washington St and you will see it’s like a piece of it got added.
Then there’s hopefully adding the 62 as an alternative and connecting Twentynine Palms as it has a marine base. Also Southern California is so dense it needs more routes. In the game it feels empty, but in real life it’s full. When you take the 15 North of San Bernardino and after the Cajon Pass Victorville and all that area is buildings and all, now I know for the Cajon Pass Victorville might still get sacrificed. But shrink Barstow and that would help. I really hope they get the 15 realistic from Barstow to Primm. That would make it actually fun, because right now it isn’t, and having the landmarks like Calico Mountain Baker add that Peggy Sues Diner just as scenic but it would so much improve that drive. With Montana coming that means California is the last stretch of the 15 to get fixed and then a reworked 15 and the entire 15 will be even better. As always I mention the drop to Primm. I’m sure they will include some form of it because it is really cool and for truck driving with the runaway truck ramp and the climb coming south and the drop going North for trucking it adds to it.
