The problem with mods is that majority of the players do not use them. So what are they to do with no Canada and no Mexico? For those that use mods, not a big deal, but you can't think selfishly. We have to consider all players. I'm not too impressed with Mexico so I don't use it. Canada is good though. But again, they are mods. Too many people with too many different skill levels for Mexico for me...way too many bugs. If Reforma did it all from scratch, different story. Better quality with them at least. Merging the old parts of the bad Mexico is a killer for me. So I don't support the project anymore.

I'd rather have SCS build beyond the borders for a few reasons:
1) more consistency
2) new assets. most people don't build their custom asset models. SCS needs to do this
3) a paid team working 40hrs a week is more dedicated to completing as a whole state
4) SCS 2021 mapping is by far much better than their base map. People keep comparing 2016 ATS to 2021 map mods and that's a very unfair comparison. Go head to head. SCS 2021 to Modder 2021. I'll take SCS 9/10.
5) SCS typically has better optimizing. Mods don't have to cater to slow/weak pc's. Since Idaho, things have elevated though fps drops all over.

DX11 helped a lot. Hopefully DX12 makes things even smoother once again. With the increased detail level, drops should be expected for the game's limitations. I'm looking forward to the future though.

I'd like to see SCS go into Canada and Mexico one day, as I hate Reforma Team's practices, and I've always had a bit of a grudge with ProMods (though, both groups do amazing work). However, I'd rather SCS at least finish out the mainland US first, so we at least get that "conclusion" before expanding further outward.
It would be similar to SCS releasing a southern Mediterranean DLC (northern Africa) before finishing Europe. I know, Mexico and Canada are also in North America, but I think it'd provide a similar oddity.
That said, if we at least get everything west of the Mississippi, I'd be perfectly happy seeing Mexico and Canada. For one, I'd finally have Arkansas to enjoy, and 2, it would be a nice shape to the US part of the map, creating a natural stopping point where they could focus assets to Mexico and Canada (assets as manpower, time, money, etc, not necessarily map asset models, though they are part of the previous list).

Do you think there will be a DX12 update this year? Or further down the road.
The game would also really benefit from TXAA.

^I disagree. Pavel talked about DX12 on the DAF stream. A month ago. If he was willing to flat out say they are working on it, I honestly think it could arrive anywhere from Nov/Dec 2021 up to Nov/Dec 2022. Pavel is pretty careful on what he says and he wouldn't have mentioned what he said if the upgrade is something is beyond 12-18 months. They have been at it for while in order for him to say what he said. DX11 was never meant to be the stop. It was easier to go from DX9 to DX11 vs straight to DX12.

See this thread talking about it and go to the time stamp the poster mentioned.

That's still to far out. Pavel won't talk about something that far out. Once he announces something where its documented and quoted easily, its generally within a 12 month span. Granted delays can happen but 2 years is something they work on in the background until they are ready to talk about it. He came out a month ago with his words. We'll see though.

12 months would be really good. Can't wait to gain some more fps and maybe TXAA.

Being a California Native there are a few things that have always bothered me for quite sometime now. Hopefully the reskin/build of southern California addresses these issues.

We shouldn't even be driving on the 1 https://i.ibb.co/LdX4X2d/20210708-095209.jpg

On the 101 north before arriving at Oxnard, these are Scales on both sides not Reststops.

It's unlikely they'll take CA-1 away since it's already in the game. Just like CA-120 through Yosemite and US-34 though Rocky Mountain, players who wish to drive realistically can just ignore the road's existence while those who don't care as much or wish to drive it can still drive on it.
