Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
As long as there selection of engines and gearboxes for all types of applications,i'm good.
I know a lot of people will pick top engine and top gearbox.I would like to think of what config i will pick, but i don't know what's available.
Most important : daycab.

8x4 is cool but I don't think I would be waiting for it. I'm training myself to haul the larger lowbeds from forest machinery dlc (lowbeds in general) with 500 hp and 6x2 chassis and ishift, it's not bad at all.
Regarding the release, the word 'synchronizing' from the blog post is a bit intriguing. I expect it on September 30 itself, if not, October 1. I don't see the release going beyond this point but if that happens, I'd be surprised.
If it's September 30, I can atleast witness both the releases on the same day, thanks to my timezone!

@flight50 I have seen an 8x4 with a sleeper hauling a 53' reefer with the axle up.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
505 hp(or should i say 2522 Nm,because again torque is what's needed)is way enough for everything vanilla.I don't see how it isn't enough.
When equipped with the right gearbox and chassis,it's a good engine.
But after all, everyone picks what engine they want and think what they want.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
I think we'll either get it Tuesday or Wednesday. If WS trusted SCS with an unreleased model it isn't much of a stretch to think that they would let it be released in game ASAP. For engine/tranny options I feel like it'll follow suit with the 4900 and what it offers. DD line-up + Cummins, with Eaton Fullers + Allison.
I really hope this truck has as much customization as the Anthem, even better if there's more!

It makes no difference if you have an 6x4 or 8x4 chassis regarding the power/torque. Both chassis got two powered axles. The only, but important difference, is weight distribution.

In the PNW 8x4s are used a lot to pull tri-axle dry vans, flatbed, tanker, hopper bottom, livestock, and reefer trailers too.
So yes 8x4s are needed for those that want to run a true PNW setup.
8x4 is about weight distribution.

@Larry71490 That's what I said one post earlier......
I hope to see 8x4 ASAP but I don't think that they will come soon. Basicly SCS could have add them with the release of the Special Transport DLC like they did it in ETS2.
But on the other hand 8x4 isn't 8x4 like here in Europe. If you watch US trucks carefully you will notice that the space between the axles is always different. At heavy haul chassis the rear three axles are mostly close together with the same space. In PNW style the 'middle' axle is more moved forward to the cab - different type of weight distribution like earlier said.
