This is my thinking as well. The 4900SB linked is not the truck we'd get I'd imagine. Of course I don't know, I'm just speculating with others. We need another classic style truck in the game and the EX is pretty much the last option there is. When people are asking for the 4900, its the EX that people are referring to. Not a SBA HH truck. We can still use the EX just like the W900 and 389. Its not a must that the 4900 SBA come. If it does, cool but many aren't thinking that variant. There are several Heavy Duty trucks that can come instead of the 4900 with the HX, VNX, 122SD and the T880. It would be nice if each brand got a HH. We already have the 49x representing WS so the SBA of the 4900 with that logic, would be out the question. The 122SD covers Daimler's other line.

Paccar has the T880. International's newest truck the HX would be the next HH to come to ATS imo. That or the 122SD. Volvo has the VNX which many have mentioned possibly sneaking with the VNR. I do agree that ATS needs more HH but I just don't think the 4900 is the answer to that. The EX fits a bit better and leave HH to one of the other models mentioned. Again, this is just my opinion. No wrong or right to it. I can't control or talk for anyone else.

I really hope we get the 4900, it seems like almost our only hope of getting a good quality classic truck. I couldn't care less for the aero trucks or what fleets use.

Same it's imo one of the few best-looking classic rigs that are still around. To have it in-game with the new standards would be amazing. But then if we don't I guess we'll have to rely on mods for it sadly.

I can understand where Andras is coming from. The SBA 4900 seems more popular in vocational and forestry setups compared to SFA which is suited more for OTR/HH but like DK said I'm doubting we will see the 4900 make it in game now which sucks because is prefer that model then the other WS models.

I doubt we will see the T880 as well, the T800 and W990 are more suited as a all rounder to have then the T880 and prefer seeing either the 800 or 990 instead. Regarding classics I guess the I should hope modern classics like the HX and 122SD make it on game as they still have the remnants of the classic style has their predecessors but with the modern features we have today which is the best of both worlds to some people.

@flight50 I didn't mean to sound so fired up, it's just difficult to transfer one's tone through text, and it doesn't help that I had worked 11 hours that day, and that I'm a person guided by passion, sorry about that!

Following up on your point on ATS being an OTR focussed game, that is true, but I find the map's scale to just be about right to allow for heavy duty trucks and shorter deliveries to be a viable option for gameplay. I for one run trucks in ATS with a focus on forestry, and RMD and B-Double flatbeds/sliding tarps, so just with my equipment I am already limited to the PNW + Idaho (and BC with Promods, and eventually Montana once that arrives), yet I find within the current area that there are enough roads and towns/cities to keep gameplay interesting, and delivery lengths are neither too long or too short, but that could just be my personal preference. It also allows me to deliver to/pick up from cities I would usually hardly visit such as Aberdeen, Omak, Longview.... not to mention all the country roads I would otherwise rarely or never travel down.

Also, I have tried the 1:1 Alaska highway map, but unfortunately I found it to be rather disappointing, and way too grindy - but I will not discount the respect I have for the map creator for his work and effort. I don't think a map on a scale larger than 1:15 could work and be truly enjoyable, as the economy would be even more unrealistic and way too easy, or too grindy, and there is the fact that many of us work full-time jobs, or have families, so we wouldn't have time to sit down for such a gaming session.

Again, my point still stands, why would SCS give us offroad locations, specialized trailers and cargo, but not aim to expand the current roster by providing us with suitable trucks for such a job?

I'm with you on that, there's no one hoping more for a 4900 than me since I used to own one in '88. :D :D

@Andras112 No worries. I totally agree with you getting more vocational in the game. I'm a HH guy myself. But I also like RMD's. I use a 8x4 W900 primarily. But Paccar trucks can dual usage in reality without needing SBA/SFA specific needs. When I see hh picks or videos, 8/10 its a Paccar truck. I see WS in the mix here and there.

It really boils down to what SCS wants in there game though. They have something in mind, approach the manufacturer to get a license and go from there. I'm sure there is a WS coming but which one and how many more will follow in the future is TBD.

Hello everybody. I always wanted to make this comparison of sleeper 49X cabs with the projections what we made on PS at last December.
Here are the links to the old publications: Red 49X: viewtopic.php?p=1467140#p1467140 White 49X: viewtopic.php?p=1467099#p1467099

Here's how the truck looks today: Red: [ external image ]

What a pitty, the cabin style I designed already using the one that exists in Cascadia did not come for the 49X.
