I remember hearing some squealing while braking, but they were too mild, even in the exterior view much closer to the engine. The ones in the video must be mostly some exaggerated version of the same.

You probably heard the brake noise from AI cars close to you. I dont know how it works for them to make these teaser scenes but if they took an AI vehicle to drive around then problably thats why there was that brake squeal noise. But if we already have that noise in AI cars then probably we will se that implemented on our trucks sooner or later.

@rsr The teaser video in reference had zero AI cars so that's not what they drove around. It was only one truck so the sound was definitely applied to the truck but will we get that sound effect is the question. The truck used in that teaser was the Western Star 49x.

Different exhaust system makes big difference how engine sounds...
Less and less true.

SCR tend to make everything sound the same for a given engine, no matter the truck it's installed in.

So a Cummins X15 will sound pretty much the same no matter which truck you put it in
I truly wish THAT would change in the future.. I like the W900 sounds but want it in the P389 I hope that is something they change one day with engines being what produce the sound rather than the rig itself

actually it'S already the case in-game, it's just that SCS didn't make separate sounds for engines in ATS for now

@flight50 just rewatched the video and the sound comes from the truck indeed. I thought we could see this sound in the 1.40 update but after playing the beta Im a little discredited if it will actually come to the game so perhaps in future updates when Wyoming DLC gets released, who knows.

Same here. I thought it was coming for 1.40. Another misguided piece of information from the blogs that may not be for the upcoming update but something that is for much later. I'm still waiting on train horns to so perhaps that Western Star was a hint that its coming. If not, why was it part of the video.

SCS has been in contact with Daimler well before the 49X project, so all the brands must have been accounted back then. That implies that another Western Star was in the pipeline. It may be the 5700 or even 4900.

But I still doubt if they meant “all 7 companies/brands” or “all companies”. If it’s the latter, then there’s a good chance that FL and WS was considered as one company (Daimler) leaving no other Western Star in the making.

You'd have to be able to read between the lines of Pavel sometimes. English isn't his native language so sometimes he might not explain it as he intends. But imho, all 7 companies and all 7 brands is the same thing. Why? Pavel doesn't talk in "Parent" companies. That would only be 4 companies. He constantly talks about 7 companies which technically, there are 7 companies. So imo, there is at least one WS that was on the menu well before the 49x came. I think WS could be the 1st outside of Paccar trucks to get that 2nd model in the game. The 4900 is the flagship but the 5700XE, is rumored to be getting some changes. It too is said to be going with a Cascadia sleeper. Easy enough, just copy the Cascadia and change out the front end, modify the chassis if need be, keep same motor model. That adds another truck to the menu of 50% truck already done. So the new 5700XE, Pinnacle and LT could all be done the fastest.
