Re: Mileage bragging Thread
I'll admit I have a bit of an obsession with vehicle mileage, and want to get as high as I can. Unfortunately I've been indecisive in the past, changing profiles and buying and selling trucks, before I settled into my current profile and chose the 579 as my primary truck. That was maybe a year and a half ago? 126 hours on this profile.
It currently has 67,323 miles:

I'm very quickly falling in love with the Anthem though and there's a good chance I'll stick with it for good. At 7,869 and counting:

The problem with you is that a new and better truck will come out soon and you will start counting the miles from zero again ...

Well I don't mind that as long as I get a better truck out of it haha
That's one thing I kind of like about the Anthem actually. I'm not late to the party this time, so I have just as much time to rack up the miles as everyone else.

Re: Mileage bragging Thread
@FrancescoMasci If you're referring to real-life trucks, it's usually around 500,000 miles. Most truck manufacturers have a parts warranty up to 500,000 miles. After that, most trucking companies and fleets will sell the truck where it has three fates:
- If the truck is in good condition, it will usually be sold off to a used truck dealer who will sell it to an owner-operator who is looking for a used truck.
- The truck may be shipped to another country such as Russia where it will be driven.
- If the truck is in poor condition, it will be auctioned and parted out, and the bad parts will be scrapped or refurbished.

1,500,000 miles (about 2,400,000 kilometres) is pretty high mileage, even for a semi truck. Usually only trucks that have been diligently looked after and maintained last that long.

@supersobes yeah, I was referring to real-life trucks.
I know that I'd scrape a car after 100/150k miles but I had no idea that a truck could do so much more, thanks.

Re: Mileage bragging Thread
10 years ago i drove an old Daf cf 75 ( a puff of hp and torque and an 16 speed manual high/low and split gearbox) and it had done over 1.3 million (harsh) kilometers..
The reason they kept it going was after 500.000 to 600.000 km the company already earned back the price of that truck..so every extra km is practicly earning him extra money..
The only 3 reasons he would get rid of it are:
1 the truck doesnt reach the emmissions requirements to go into cities
2 the engine would die and it costs to much to refurb of replace then engine
3 the factory stopped making parts for it because of its age...
