Re: Wyoming Discussion Thread
Yeah releasing state by state makes sense. I would rather get a new state then wait for another then to wait for a big release of states.

Indeed. I also would like to get one state per DLC, even if that DLC would be very small. A very small state would take less time, it would cost less money, and it can be released faster than the big states we get now.

Imagine how immaculate Florida (or maybe Maine) will look in 2035. Then when you do a cross country job from east to west it'll be like going back in time. It's already like that going from Colorado to California lol.oldmanclippy wrote: ↑26 Jul 2021 17:10The product at the end of that chain of iteration and improvement will be far superior to one that didn't get that chance for feedback in between each state.

The CA rebuild is an improvement though

Yes, a huge improvement!
It will probably take a long time before the whole base map (CA, NV, AZ) is rebuilt, though. I hope that every major ATS upgrade from now on will bring us a little more, but I think it will come less frequently and take a long time (like the rebuild of Germany).

Germany did only have 1 or 2 mappers or so, most of the time?
While this ATS redo seems to have a team.
Road network + cities need updating, yeah.
Will there be a blog post for Wyoming or something else today?

Wyoming landscapes? Didn’t we already have two nature posts?
If anything I want them to show Cheyenne, a gameplay, perhaps Yellowstone and proceed to release. I’m hopeless and awkward and desperate for Wyoming.

I would be most pleased with the blog announcing the release date but it won't happen (yet) so I'll be happy when the blog comes about Cheyenne or Yellowstone National Park

Re: Wyoming Discussion Thread
I think ATS is mostly plateauing in terms of mapping quality. What could change in the future that would lead to dramatic differences in overall quality between states is the introduction of more efficient use of multi-core CPUs, which would allow more density in terms of vehicles, buildings, cityscapes, pedestrians, etc. But vehicle and pedestrian density can be added to prior states rather easily, while increased building or cityscape density would take a lot more work to normalize across the country. They're gonna need to figure something out on that front before we get to the Washington DC to Boston corridor, because the current technology won't be able to do it justice.
