Tristam-94, yeah, that stretch could need a few resting/sleep places.
I think I found 2 spots that could work, for ingame atleast. IRL, it might be forbidden.
1 north of Thermopolis. Another east of Greybull.
IRL locations would be about these 2 https://www.google.com/maps/dir/43.6565 ... m2!4m1!3e0
NTM's B-Double Telescopic Skeletal Container Carrier. Youtube video on how it works. W & S thread.
B-Double trailer and short modes: EN 7.82 swap body, 20’ or 30’ containers.
Standalone 40' mode: EN 7.82 swap body, 20', 30', 40' or 2 x 20' trailer.

On US-14 there is also the Crystal Spring Rest Area, which just looks like a patch of dirt along the road. I don't know if trucks are allowed to stop there, but it would work I think.
If we would be lucky enough to get the US-14 between Greybull and Yellowstone, there is a proper rest area on the north side of Greybull. That would also be a good stop for trucks between Riverton and Sheridan over US-14/20.

Why did they choose Thermopolis over Worland? Isn't Worland more busy and industrial? As @Shiva was saying, they will have to slippery add the US-16 corridor with both towns. Because of this decision, truckers have to go all the way up to Sheridan and back down I-25. US-16 is also a little scenic when it gets to the forest side right before Buffalo (been there before, yes).

Could this be part of the "extensive map update"?

Thermopolis, has in real life a connection to Cody.
Greybull has IRL connection to Cody too.
Both are legal routes for semi's.
I would rather have https://www.google.com/maps/dir/44.4891 ... m2!4m1!3e0
Than US-16 between Worland and Buffalo
And that "extensive map update"? I have no clue what it is. Neither where that information is from. Was it from a stream, or somewhere else?

I can't find that ingame, Tristam-94.

Ahh, Wyoming department of transportation greybull rest area, the 1 north of Greybull.

I support this Greybull - Cody - Thermopolis triangle theory. Would be cool to see it added at some point.

The "extensive map update" was something someone claimed to have seen in the game menu, but nobody else saw it. So I think we can assume it's not real.

There is no evidence for this "extensive map update" outside of someone saying they thought they saw it without a screenshot taken.

I also think people are getting confused about what is meant by "mapping with a different scale".

ETS2 has two maps: uk and europe. There is a loading screen between them because they are not part of the same map. The UK is fully 1:15 in both area and time. Europe is fully 1:19 in both area and time.

ATS has one map: usa and it is 1:20 in area and time. When Reforma maps "in 1:1", they are still mapping in 1:20, they are just choosing to replicate specific segments of a road in their entirety. It is still 1:20, they just chose to not apply that 1:20 scale evenly. For example, SCS makes their cities in 1:3 and everything else in 1:20. But that 1:3 is only in terms of time; the cities are mapped in the same world as the rest of the map, they just chose to make the cities 6 times larger than the areas around them relatively. There are lots of parts of the 1:20 regions that are mapped in 1:1 or 1:2, namely intersections and truck stops. But the scale is still 1:20, it's just the representation that is "a different scale".

TLDR; ATS is 1:20, ETS2 Europe is 1:19, and ETS2 UK is 1:15. The time scale for cities is 1:3, but with regards to cities and whenever SCS or a modder replicates a particular segment of road, area, landmark, etc in a different scale, the actual map scale doesn't literally change. It's just the size of that particular representation that changes within the framework of the 1:20/1:19/1:15 world.

And that's why SiSL already remembered us time ago that a single full clover-leaf interchange (standard 2 or 3 lanes) requires as space in the map as if it would occupy near 300 square kilometers IRL. Because it's mapped in 1:1 scale (it has to, it has to had the right sizes for all the on and off ramps as it will have IRL); but it's put inside a 1:19 / 1:20 scaled down 3D world. So, it takes A LOT of the available space in that reduced size map.

That SiSL's reminder was a gently way to say us: "you expect us to fit too many things in that map".

I think mountain ranges are even worse when talking about extra space occupied
