There is a ton of water in the Gulf though. Perhaps they can give us something. The one think I really look forward to in the Gulf of Mexico is oil rigs and plenty of them. Not just in Texas though but they are stretched all across all the way over to Mobile Alabama. Shallow water and deep water would be nice. Don't over do it but enough to say heyyyy, we are here and a big industry in the Gulf.

The one thing I'd love to see with ports though is multiple ports terminals. I know scale is a huge issue but use the water. Push out into the ocean to add space if or when possible. These ports are massive...make them feel massive. At least bring 2-3 terminals or piers as they call them. So far, we only get one pier. But if sized right, perhaps 2-3 can be lined up like the below pic. This is Mobile, Alabama.

I guess we could save that image for when we start discussing Alabama, because Mobile is practically guaranteed when we get Alabama and shipping is a major industry there (as with the rest of the gulf coast).

@_Roger_ yeah, a while ago there was a discussion about the amount of cities, but I don't know the numbers anymore. It could be that some people said 30-35. But at least not 50, despite Texas being bigger than Iberia.

Check out the numbers of tankers.

Most of the tankers go to Galveston.
Container ships go for Houston.

Houston TX to Pensacola FL, I am glad that I am not a mapper/mapplanner for that area!

Houston to Pensacola involves 5 states though. It won't all come at once so that helps. The same mapper may not get all that. I-10 will be quite busy there but its all split up.
Texas - Houston, Beaumont
Louisiana - Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans
Mississippi - Gulfport/Biloxi
Alabama - Mobile
Florida - Pensacola

The key thing here is space. Everything will be tight and between all the above cities, I don't see much scenic towns squeezing in if we are to maintain that sense of distance. Slidell is the only scenic city that can come and that is primarily because of the junction we'll need at I-10 and I-55. We could get a remote depot from New Orleans to cover Slidell though.

I would add Pascagoula to the above list. It has a refinery and two massive shipyards though one of them seems to be military related.

Pascagoula is too close to Biloxi though. If anything, it gets absorbed but Biloxi/Gulfport. I'd rather have plenty of space for Mobile in which even it will need space from Pensacola. Pascagoula makes more of an issue for Mobile.

flight50, that is 9 cities in 490 miles.
Pensacola FL, can be moved a bit east.
Gulfport/Biloxi, 1 good thing to them, they are off the I-10.
If SCS is going to have all those cities, then I think they'll need to plan where they'll be and about the size they'll be.

Ain't the causeway that crosses the Pascagoula River/Wetlands quite iconic?
There should be places for those in the map too.

Are trucks allowed on US 90 between Gulfport/Biloxi/Pascagoula? They could have US 48 and I-110 connect down from I-10 and allow US 90 to connect between the industrial areas of Gulfport and Pascagoula perhaps? They both seem to be right off of US 90. The scaling would have to be pretty significant and it might end up being too much to fit between NOLA and Mobile but it’s one idea.

US-90 and trucks there? no problem.
Only place US-90 as a problem is at the Mississippi and Louisiana Stateline. Pearlington Bridge/East Pearl River Bridge.
