Btw. I think Picture 20 is the Silver Falls Rest Area in Crosbyton.
The quality of Google Street View is pretty bad, because it's from Dec. 2007, but the buildings etc. seem to match.

Edit: Just to make sure it doesn't get overseen  @Bedavd

Oh I'm with ya. This definitely hypes my anticipation for Texas. Not because its my home state but because its so huge that we could get a ton of stuff. There are tons of signs and yes I hope many signs are specific to certain parts of the dlc. Texas should be treated like 2-3 states on many regards. The blogs will definitely be highly anticipated now. The possibilities and options for Annie's service is super high in Texas.

oldmanclippy wrote: 14 Oct 2021 13:39 A good percentage of billboards that I see on the highways are for either real estate agents, insurance agents, lawyers, political candidates, specialist medical professionals like dentists or eye doctors, etc and they all have their faces on the billboard.
The rest are for McDonalds and other fast food restaurants, car dealerships, local tourist traps, travel plazas, tourism agencies, public service announcements, banks, universities, heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical, radio stations, etc. ATS is doing a good job of replicating a lot of those so far.
Don't forget about hotels, resorts, local TV news, hospitals, lotteries (there's a Powerball billboard on the 35 between here and MSP with a giant ball "crashing" through the sign and a digital display with the draw; I'm not sure how common that is), the military, etc. And then you just have billboards with political, religious, or motivational messages; controversial issues should stay out of the game, of course, so maybe instead of one billboard being pro-choice and the one right after it being pro-life, and the one right after that being pro-choice again (I've also seen that on the 35), the signs could be "arguing" over a pettier issue. There's a chance for some inter-sign humor there, and also in general: imagine one of the Bushnell "World's Happiest Cattle" signs right next to one for that steakhouse chain. Then you also have billboards specific for something in a given city or at a certain exit.

Annie certainly has her work cut out for her, and I'm also glad she's on the ATS team. I really like her work in Wyoming, and I'm excited to see what she'll introduce in the future. The possibilities are practically endless!

@rbsanford My favorite billboard between here and Duluth proudly touts how most students in a certain school district choose not to vape. And everytime I laugh, because I sincerely wonder if they are thinking that students will respond truthfully when posed with the question "do you do something illegal for your age"

 Call Rick if you get hit in accident. Billboards-some crazy ones then local hospital one or specials like order large pizza free breadsticks. Seasonal Halloween 🎃 ones. There political message ones would steer clear of. Texas sure out do every state with billboards lol.

Political billboards should stay away from the touchy topics, yeah. Maybe just a smiling guy in a suit, and it says "Worried about taxes? Vote for Jack Johnson for governor!" His opponent would be the equally vague and boring John Jackson. This way there's no endorsement or condemnation of any real world politician or party, and it's just another detail giving life to the game's world. The Jack Johnson/John Jackson race was a joke from Futurama about how politicians tend to be so dry and identical and election races are so boring (at least that's how they were in the before times), so the potential for humor also comes into play here.

Either that, or "President Pavel" could be up for re-election, promising infrastructure improvements (reworked base map, continuous updates) and new jobs (new industries and companies in future states).

I know right, lol. Yes, I'm pumped. I wouldn't have expected this.....at all. I know she split games is all I knew. I didn't see SCS hiring another but I guess, it was going to happen sooner or later. What she does is very demanding and can get overwhelming having to deal with both games. Smart move by SCS to provide (2) 2d Artist. The games are coming of age when more specific people are necessary. We just found out that there are specific ATS truck modelers as well as truck modelers that do both games.

Same reason why there is a dedicated cargo team thread that once people understand the thread, more people are for it. ATS needs a boost across the board. I think its more confusing for some people to have to split time between both games. You get use to this way, then you have to change it up for the other game. Now this is visual type stuff I'm talking about. Programming, sound, QA testing, all that is pretty much the same so people can split a bit easier. But anything visual seems like it a beating to flip back and forth. I like this move.

@rbsanford Yes, all that you and oldmanclippy wrote.........there is a tremendous amount of billboards and signs to deal with for Texas. I sure hope there is not a limit on number of signs, billboards a dlc can have because Texas could max that out and we'd see too many repeats perhaps. There could be hundreds of billboards just in real life in a city. ATS would only have a portion of that. Don't over use them though. I-30 (my main commute), there seems like a billboard every 1-2 miles almost and the range of categories is high. Annie can seriously be busy for weeks on end. She comes up with half a dozen or more designs for one theme........and only one is chosen. I'd like to see some used elsewhere perhaps. If there are designs that have 2-3 good ones and only 1 can be chosen, keep the others for later. Keep it for another dlc even. Don't trash all her work. Some things might fit better down line somewhere. Just change the name and color scheme and the logo itself could work elsewhere.

What would I love to see Texas/Annie showcase: Grocery store diversity, gas station diversity, farm diversity and construction primarily. If Texas can get 2-3 new depots in these categories along with whatever else, that starts to add diversity for sure.

They should do a Whataburger parody. That's what will be original in the DLC. Also that many of Texan gasoline companies

And a Bucc-ee's, of course.

@flight50, all those kinds of billboards wouldn't need to come with Texas, they could be worked in over future DLCs.
