Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Texas would be an excellent opportunity to introduce concepts like rush hour and wider freeways. Like @flight50 has said before, Texas is really a pivot point for ATS to move to the next phase of its lifecycle. Even subtle gameplay changes like this would go a long way towards preparing for the future.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
4+2+2 sounds like a good compromise for the Katy Freeway in ATS. With that, it gets 16 of its 26 lanes, which is already a lot of lanes for a 1:20 map.
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
@russ99 Good map! I think there are some missing roads in there though. US 90 for instance from Van Horn down to Del Rio is probably coming. This photo is thought to be along US 90 between Marfa and Alpine.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
For the Katy, if we can get at least 1-1.5 miles of this behemoth of a road, that would be the best we can hope for. Houston is the 4th largest US city. SCS will have to do much much better than LA. LA was base map days so I give them a pass. So Houston will have to be fairly massive. It should be the largest city in ATS until the rebuild team gets to LA. At 1:20 scale, lots will get cut out. SCS can't push Katy to far West. There is a huge gap from Katy to San Antonio. So 1-1.5 mayyyyybe 2 miles is the best we could see for the Katy. There is a ton of space from Houston to San Antonio but we'll need that sense of distance to feel realistic. Too much of the Katy and that throws off balance when the East comes.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
All of East TX being in 1:10 would definitely contribute to Katy being the size you all want.

A bigger scale would always result in specific places being closer to the desired size. The problem is that this is (probably) technically impossible. The entire map needs to be exactly the same scale unless they can and want to introduce tricks to make you drive slower or faster on certain places to cover the distance differece created by the scale difference in the same time. Otherwise going north to south along the easr coast would take twice as long as on the west coast (to name a small but easy problem)
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Actually no, because if the panhandle is in 1:15, that would be the halfway point. Think about this: if 2 is 1:10 and 1 is 1:20, 1.5 would be 1:15. That way there won't be a big scale jump.
And you're right about the whole twice the time thing, though I'm afraid so areas like the Northeast are so compact.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Having a two scales on the same map would not work. The reason they can get away with ETS2 is because Britain is not contiguous with the rest of Europe. Hence the loading screen every time you want to cross back and forth. The only way this would work in ATS would be with Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Alaska. Otherwise it would be a mess.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
I heard about this highway with 26 lanes in a certain section, but I didn't know that it is located in Texas, I know I will be looking forward to Texas even more, I hope that this section with those 26 lanes will get into the game and there a viewpoint
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
No way ATS gets all 26. That's impossible at the given scale.
