We can get by without US-281. But we can't have too much of a gap West of I-35. We need 2-3 North to South roads for sure. With a combination of US-281, US-183, US-87, US-83, US-277 and US-385, we need connections from I-10 to I-40. Everything in between just falls into place. When Oklahoma comes, those will come into play even more along with I-44 and I-35. I really like US-83 though. Its very North and South. It connects to Shamrock, Tx on I-40, Abilene, Tx on I-20 and Junction, Tx on I-10.

US-385 is the Western most North to South road that would be cool. Oklahoma could complete US-385 in Lamar and perhaps run it to I-10 by way of Midland/Odessa.

I wonder if we get another Texas blog coming soon. We got 2 blogs so far. I wonder if we are in that 1 blog a month window or 1 blog every 2-3 month window still. Considering Wyoming is on the verge of a release in the next month or so, SCS will have to start ramping up Texas blogs after Wyoming. Its been w.i.p. for 2 years now so its definitely moving along. It was a challenge finding locations due to the state's size but it was cool at the same time.

Since we're discussing N/S HWY's west of I-35, I came across this from TXDOT's website https://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/proj ... lains.html. While the road map probably has already been decided by SCS, this is an interesting thing that could affect the future of Texas (both IRL and ATS wise) much further down the line (2030+)

I'd be happy to see the road through Elgin appear the lil South Meat market would be great lil building for scenic town.. but if Pavel made so many mappers top Texas then it's gonna be a big one but will see how it goes.. I'm stoked for sure sux it's still December before she appears if that.. but eventually..?

This year is very unlikely. We are at the halfway mark of the year basically and it might seem like a lot of time is left, but Texas is a huge state to create. Tons to do I'm sure. Also remember that it has to be polished towards the end and tested. I'd imagine that it could take 2-3 months just to test this beast. Its not a normal sized ATS map so it could be double the time to test. That's time put towards release as well. So if there was a chance we got it for Nov/Dec, it would need to have main production completed by Septemberish to allow for testing to have it released prior to the xmas event and xmas stream of this year. So, July to Sept to have Texas wrapped up for testing and polishing......no way that's enough time. Not to mention, SCS shuts down week 3 in December for holidays and don't return until the 2nd week of January. Simply not enough time in the year for Texas unless they are much much further along than any of us know. After Wyoming releases, we'll get Texas blogs and find out how much is done.

Texas can't afford to be rushed thought. SCS can't afford to rush Texas. Take your time and cross your T's and dot your I's. At best, Texas is a 2022 Spring release. Worst case, perhaps Summer 2022. It's perhaps better to think super long development vs anything this year. By the time Texas releases, it could have been in development for 3.25 to 3.5 years total and that might not even included what they had to go thru for research. The release pattern is thrown off for Texas so we can forget about that 2 maps a year until after Texas releases.

Never expected Texas in 2021. What I initially thought after Texas announcement was that Texas was a third team, and they were going to announce Montana, and Wyoming would be the mid year release and Montana the late release. Now how many teams they have is unknown, but that's not going to happen.
Assumed from the start Texas would either be mid-2022 or late 2022/Early 2023 like Iberia.
If they do have a third team, I expect Mid 2022 Montana, Late 2022 Texas. If they have only 2 teams, Texas Mid to late 2022, Montana December-March 2023.

The number of map teams are pretty much known. We knew this last year on the 2020 Xmas stream. We have 4 map leads so it’s assumed there are 4 map teams. 1 small rebuild team, 1 new map lead on Wyoming, one new map lead on Texas and the other map lead is perhaps either helping in Texas or working an unknown dlc.

Texas and Montana swaps around. Texas has been announced already. Montana hasn’t so why would Montana come before Texas. Come January 2022, Texas will be in development for 3 years. It won’t go to 4. Montana could be end of 2022 or early 2023 though.

Texas, late winter 2022 or spring 2022. Montana, summer 2022.
I'll stick with that, until proven otherwise.

Because Texas will take twice as long to build o they might finish Montana before Texas.

Texas arrives in the first quarter of 2022, Montana in late 2022, which means that this year only Wyoming received, certainly not Montana before Texas

I think Texas in late Spring 22 and Montana in Fall 22. I don’t think they have enough spare people to finish Montana before Texas, and I explained before why I think it’s important to have a bit of a gap between Texas and Montana releases. Montana would probably be announced during the Christmas stream.
Between Wyoming and Texas, we hopefully get another portion of California rework and/or improvements like better AI.
