Midland/Odessa, Dallas/Ft.Worth and Tyler/Longview are all soooo close. All 6 getting garages seems like a long shot. I wouldn't bother honestly. Its one or the other to me. These areas will pretty much be metropolitan areas anyways so they will seem connected regardless.

If the garage for DFW isn't in Arlington or somewhere in between like that, then I'd like them each to have one.

For metroplex areas, I agree in between would make the most sense or at least as close to the middle as possible. For DFW, that would make Arlington valid. It won't be mapped but people who know the road/atmosphere, will know they are in Arlington. Midland/Odessa, they pretty much merge and there isn't a mid cities. So on the border or which ever one is marked could work as the midpoint between the two. Longview/Tyler is a bit trickery. There isn't a merge and there is actually a lot of space between them (irl). Now in ATS at 1:20 scale, that space could be more like Nampa to Boise or CDA to Spokane. Which actually isn't to bad. That's like what....2 miles apart. Not to bad considering the scale.

But if Texas is going to have that 25-35 marked cities like a lot of us are speculating, 7-8 garages won't do it. 20% of that would still be too low. Texas is huge and people will expect to get around and base in a lot more locations. I'd think out of 25-35 cities, 50% of those is the minimum that should get garages. So that's like 12 out 25 or like 17 out of 35 cities that should get garages. ATS is not like ETS2 so there are less garages that comes. I'm cool with more truck stops and service stations filling vs more garages. I'm not so picky on garage locations actually but whatever SCS chooses, I'd just go with what's available. I always select garage based on distance from the closest garage. I like garages on the perimeter of the dlc. I like them spread out based on like 500 miles or so to my next garage on the map and to future ones I anticipate. So DFW, Houston, El Paso and Amarillo are perhaps my garages. That links me up with plans for Oklahoma City/DFW, New Orleans/Houston, Phoenix/El Paso and Albuquerque/Amarillo. I don't like my garage so close together. I like to be forced to drive distance as I try not to teleport as much as possible.

What % of cities have garages in the previous map DLC's + base map areas?

I wouldn't go by past trends in garage amounts to estimate how many garages Texas will have. The average number of garages per state is 5, but this doesn't correlate with number of cities. For example, Colorado has 13 marked cities, which is just under the average of 14, and has 8 garages, the most of any state so far. California has 22 cities, but only 7 garages. Take a look at Arizona and Nevada: the former has nearly twice as many marked cities as the latter, but only the same number of garages.

Texas has a large number of large cities, and a huge area, so there will definitely have to be a lot of garages, something like 50%, like flight said (Utah also has 50%, for reference). It might even be a good idea to give it the ETS2 treatment and have a garage in every city, except for small dot ones; moving east, a ~90% garage amount per state seems inevitable, and not too far fetched.

Furthermore, I consider that I-80 across Nevada must be redone next.

So no clear trend on garages then.

I seriously wish the small dot and large dot for ATS came like ETS2. Texas would definitely need it. Too many cities. For reference, for those who don't understand, this is what we speak of for those of us that talk about dots. viewtopic.php?p=1436234#p1436234. It would help unify both games imho. Currently ATS marked cities are all the same sized dots and you have no idea where the garage are unless you zoom all the way in on the map. Sometimes people just don't want to have to do all that.

^Lol. Your welcome. That wishlist is a source of wishes from us fans. Good things have come from that list. Owned trailers, better lighting, better sound, articulated trailers, multi player, etc. The more people that ask for the same things, the higher priority something can get. So far the 2 biggest wishes left that I can recall is better AA and rigids. AA could come with this talk of D12/Vulkan in the works.

I just noticed that Texas is comparable in size to South Australia. SA has one tenth of the road density though, with much of it being open space. So I don't think it would take 3-4 years for SCS to model it, if they ever decide to do a third simulator.
