Yeah more versatile does work. ATS's map is so small right now that most industries are yet to come. So that limits things too. Once at least 1/2 the US is done, then we should really see progress.

Knightrider wrote: 20 Aug 2020 23:36 I was thinking about the WS, correct me if im wrong but based on the mack and international, went this way:

1 - dealer files found within game files
2 - steamdb page created
3 - teaser on youtube/blog
4 - twitter/instagram teasing
5 - truck oficially announced on blog
6 - truck is released a week later after official announcement

If this is correct, I wonder if the timing between these steps were similar between the mack and international.
I was waiting for this kind of post:
International Lonestar:
- on February 4th 2019, in the ATS 3rd anniversay stream SCS announced that the Lonestar will be the newest truck addition to the ATS
- it appeared on the SteamDB site as an unnamed DLC on August 26th 2019 and on the next day, it got a placeholder name - Marula Vrm
- on December 6th the placeholder name got changed to the official name - International Lonestar
- on December 10th a release date blog was published
- on December 12th the Lonestar is launched

Mack Anthem:
- appeared on the Steam DB site as an unnamed DLC on January 27th 2020
- first teaser was on March 27th
- the previously unnamed DLC got a placeholder name -brrma- on April 1st and then another one -Operation BORK- on the same day
- release confirmed on April 22nd
- on April 23rd the placeholder name got changed to the official name - Mack Anthem®
- on April 28th the Anthem is launched

So it would seem like, that for the Western Star to be released by the end of this year, it should already have appeared or appear soon enough (end of August - first half of September) on the SteamDB site.

@J.Random the empty return trips with fuel tankers would be realistic. Chemical tankers not as realistic but does happen.

The same applies for car transporters; most times they will return empty.

And regarding food tankers, use them to haul anything that isn't food isn't only not realistic but (usually) extremely illegal.

So if he's upset because those trailers force them to made empty returns due lack of cargoes, the way to go is ask for more cargo definitions; not to demand that SCS forces cargoes that shouldn't be hauled by those tankers.

I agree with Larry and Some newbie driver. That's just how it would be in real life. A returning load shouldn't be something that is unexpected. Making money in ATS/ETS2 is easy. Whether driving full or empty, really doesn't matter to me. The whole point is the experience of driving a rig. Getting from A to B empty shouldn't be considered a bad thing when you look at the nature of the trailer you are hauling. Cargo for each owned trailer should be highly considered before running with it.

Normally with tanker work you get paid enough to cover whatever empty miles you have to run.

I'm not talking about realism. I'm talking about gameplay. And from gameplay perspective, driving the same couple of cargo variants to and from the same couple of companies is just not interesting. It's boring.

I hope they stick to realism as much as they can. After all it is called a simulator. Some of it they won't be able to, but as much as possible.
