Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Does the new version of this truck have a mirror camera? I know your brother is not on the T680.

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
As far as I know, all trucks in the US are required to have physical mirrors, so a having only cameras would be illegal. The cameras can supplement the mirrors, but not replace them.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
That kinda explains the reason why Kenworth didn’t come with cameras. They had some sort of small, egg-shaped mirror during testing, which I assume to be cameras.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
The digital mirrors have been legalized in a lot of places recently, so maybe it’s just a matter of time before they are allowed in the US.

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Innovative developments are inevitable. However, when mirrors already have such a function and there is no possibility of error, connecting them to digital and computer brain systems will render the device unusable even in case of temporary failures. Is there a standby system for this or how long does it take for them to be reused like primitive mirrors incase of a failure.
I'm a little bit traditional and always trust mechanic or analog systems instead of digital system.

Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
Well Peterbilt solved that issue tbh. It has both digital and analog since there are cameras under the mirrors. With that you'll get both benefits of mirrors and camera. Unlike Mercedes DAF gaved both options but Pete said why not both together.
Btw mirror cams are reliable overall. If sth happens to the system or camera, Mercedes service will provide you a mirror asap that you can put on your truck.
