Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
That VT is certainly an interesting truck, especially for volvo's current lineup of trucks that are designed to be more aerodynamic, even the VNX which isn't very flat
I agree @flight50 that 4x2's and 8x4's or 8x6's should be added for realism, the same reason I know you advocate for more owned trailer types. I've also seen quite a lot of trucks running tri-axles with a regular three axle lowboy or whatever else they use for heavy equipment (like the wind turbine blade transport I saw on my way to CO)

@Truemac so if I'll ever want to buy a VT880, I should be looking into ones built in 2009 or 2010?

Aren't there any similarities between the new VNL and old VNL because they do look massively different but also very similar in other ways
Take it with a grain of salt nothing is 100% sure

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
not really. maybe the sleeper part. Just not the hood.
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
If they are similar, SCS shouldn't use the old model to make the new VNL anyways. The new one should be made with CAD files. The old VNL was modeled with photos/videos and isn't as accurate as CAD files. Other than the old Cascadia if we get it, every new truck to come to ATS should be CAD file referenced models only.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Hood and interior are the differences. Everything else are similar. Maybe small details are different.leo.arevalo12ss wrote: ↑24 Aug 2020 01:45Aren't there any similarities between the new VNL and old VNL because they do look massively different but also very similar in other ways

Oh ok so I guess but they'll have to get the cad files instead because the old VNL didn't have the cad files but I'm not sure

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Nope. The old VNL predated the use of CAD files in ATS. Cad files just became a thing in 2018. SCS continued to update the VNL from the 2016 license blog. Back then, it was all photo reference modeling and internet references.

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Unlike the Freightliner Cascadia, the old Volvo VNL and the new Volvo VNL don't actually use the same cab, so SCS couldn't reuse the cab even if they wanted to.
