Easter Egg Thread (updated 26 may 2021)

#1 Post by Vinnie Terranova » 11 Aug 2020 21:04

With the recently released Idaho DLC it became very clear that SCS has put some really nice easter eggs into the Idaho DLC. For instance, some hidden roads which are not visible on the map, yet drivable without being blocked by XXX barriers. But you can think of all kind of easter eggs.
Anyway, it reminded me of one of the first easter eggs I ever discovered, which was the race track west of Tucson, AZ. Today I found a really awesome easter egg, and this easter egg is the reason I decided to start an easter egg thread, in which you can post every easter egg you found.

SPOILER ALERT
Ofcourse you should be aware that this thread could contain a lot of easter eggs. So if you want to find easter eggs by yourself: *** SPOILER ALERT *** Don't read further.
END OF SPOILER ALERT

If you want to post an easter egg, please give enough information about the location, so others can find that easter egg without too much problems. A screenshot would be fine, too.

So, here's the first one:

State: Oregon
Location: Astoria - US-101 southbound - just before the bridge over the Young Bay
Easter egg: to the left you can see a person on some rocks. I don't know what he's doing. But as you drive towards the bridge, a dolphin killer whale jumps over that person.
Screenshot: Jumping dolphin killer whale, a.k.a. Free Willy

List of Easter Eggs (123)

Arizona (8): California (16): Colorado (21): Idaho (19): Nevada (8): New Mexico (13): Oregon (13): Utah (15): Washington (10):

Nice pic, but I think it is an Orca not a dolphin.

You're probably right; I didn't know orcas could jump, too. Well, it's a jumping orca then. Or better: the Jumping Killer Whale!

That jumping Killer Whale is likely a reference to the movie Free Willy.

Yes, the reference is clear:

Other easter eggs could be the road near Salmon (Idaho DLC) and the one in Bellingham through Wickersham (Washington DLC).

For the race track west of Tucson, AZ, see here.

@KnuteOle, @Jatruck, well, that's a nice resemblance!

In the first post I will maintain a list of all found easter eggs, so it will be easy to see if a partical easter egg already has been posted or not.

Here are a few Idaho eggs that I posted in the Idaho thread:

HIDDEN ROADS:

- Old Spiral Highway (Lewiston) is drivable
- There's a dirt road south of Salmon that's drivable
- In Pocatello, there's an automobile junk yard next to one of the delivery locations. It's fenced in, but the fences open when you approach them so you can drive through. Warning: very tight turns between rusted old junkers; may take all your skill if you're hauling a trailer.

EASTER EGGS:

- A control box in Boise features images of some of the SCS developers
- A billboard outside of Twin Falls features Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite
- You can see Evel Knievel's ramp from his 1970s attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon from the Perrine Bridge

SECRETS:
- You can find Sharlie the Payette Lake Monster in the lake by McCall; not sure if this is random or if he/she is always there

I found a few more:
- Wall painting - Lewiston
- Hidden road at Stone Lagoon - US-101 north of Eureka
- Hidden road - northeast of Grangeville at DeepGrove
- Accessible Craters of the Moon entrance - US-26

Where is this exactly?
- You can find Sharlie the Payette Lake Monster in the lake by McCall; not sure if this is random or if he/she is always there
I've seen it, too. You have to look closely, as Sharlie is across the lake.

Ginormous Rubber Duck in the water down by San Diego.
In a world full of swift drivers, I'm an O/O.
