@VersettiSP exactly. This was a perfect chance to add those widebase rims, yet they somehow failed it miserably. :|

Edit: but new super singles are so nice that I can forgive this failure.

I like the new update. I like the deeper lug drive tires in general. Wish they added them to Roadmasters and Vortex as well.

Do the wide rims make any difference at all from a gameplay standpoint? Do they affect handling or anything in any way? Or is it purely cosmetic?

A question about real life trucks...what is the purpose of a single wide rim with a large tire (so, 4 wheels behind the cab) vs the default of 8 wheels?

Would a real life truck use wide rims for the two front wheels?

I know next to nothing about real life trucking. I enjoy customizing the look of my trucks, but, I want to find cool looks that are also realistic.

Well, in the real life industry the super singles:

Code: Select all

By the numbers:
have less rolling resistance.

My experience:
not noticeable.

Code: Select all

By the numbers:
better fuel economy.

My experience:
not noticeable.

Code: Select all

By the numbers:
better ride.

My experience:
true
The biggest con of SS:
With a super single, if you get a puncture or blowout you are stuck waiting for a service truck. With duals, you can limp into a station and get it repaired.

Yes, IRL trucks use wide rims/tires when heavy haul or off-road. The wider contact patch allows better weight distribution and load carrying limit, and on softer surfaces (sand, gravel, mud) the tires 'float' over the surface where as normal tires are narrow enough to 'cut' into the surface.

So IRL, if I carry a spare wheel and can change it should the tire blow out, I'm better off with super singles?
There was a thread on Quora where these were said to affect the handling negatively. Is that true?
And finally, are they noticeably lighter than the duals?
