What route are you planning on using for your first official trip to Colorado DLC?

#1 Post by ThatWeirdTrucker » 13 Oct 2020 20:15

I'm curious, what route do you plan on taking for your first official trip to Colorado DLC? I'm stuck in the middle between I-70 and I-25 because they're so good. Might take US-40 or US-550 to save the interstates the best for last.

(Help me decide which route to take for my first trip into CO DLC)

It is usually something I have a definate way I'm going, WA was 101 over the Astoria bridge, UT was US 50 from Carson City, ID was US93 through jackpot which was the earliest dead end city that was still a dead end. CO... there is to much to choice I-70 and US 40, really really tempt me. I-25 as Ranton takes the place of the next dead end city that becomes no longer a dead end. Passing through 4 corners has a certain symbolicness to it. I think it could simply come down to where I can pick up a load that delivers to DIA, the pics in the blog look amazing so I really would like that to be my first destination.

Curse you Colorado for having so much amazing routes making this choice so damn difficult

Ughhh so hard to decide... I want to enter through a non-interstate but at the same time, I want to enter through an interstate.

I'll head from my garage in Boise to Utah, then across I-70 to Denver. From there, it'll just be wherever the wind takes me.

Probably from my garage in Moab >>> Monticello >>> US-491 >>> Cortez >>> Durango just to get to the Million Dollar Highway as fast as possible. I want to
drive that road sooo bad. Then heading east towards I-25/Denver likely via US-50 but let's see which roads we get there at the end. Will be an epic drive, right through the Rocky Mountains. The north, I-70 and the eastern prairie will have to wait a little.

For once, the map connection that I'm most excited about isn't an Interstate. I've very excited to see that US-40 is going to be extended East from Vernal, so that will probably be how I first enter Colorado.

Most likely I-25 north from ABQ to Denver, I've been looking forward to continuing north of Raton on I-25 into Colorado since 2017 (NM Release).

I-70, US 160 from Arizona or US 491 from Utah. I think the first city will be either Grand Junction or Cortez.
