Come on SCS! We need Cascadia 2016 too =)

I doubt they can add even just the AI without a license. You don't want to risk something like that.

its not that easy, with the Mack RD SCS can get away because it is already obsolet for over 1 1/2 decade, with the Old Cascadia this isnt the case, when was it discontinued ? 2016 ?, also the truck is still to high poly for the AI, so they have to redo it and Freighliner can still get pissy about them just using it even if it is only AI

It doesn't work this way sadly. Logos are not the only thing that is licensed. Vehicle design is as well. That's why SCS had to remove all CAT machinery from the game and replace it with non descript stuff instead. Placing a truck that looks like the old Cascadia, but without the logo when SCS also works on licenses for the other trucks is a risky game.
The smallest details always make the biggest difference.
Re: Come on SCS! We need Cascadia 2016 too =)
Being a very popular truck for a while, one of the most common faces in NA roads, and a very popular and requested truck from community, part of me believe in the old Cascadia coming to ATS. This can be a door opener for popular old gen, but very popular trucks.
Also stated many times in this forum, tecnically both W900 and pete 389 are pre-DEF models.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But we also got e.g. Tesla Model S and Jeep Wrangler in AI. Both vehicles which are still produced.
Of course it would need some adaption, but better than throw it away in my opinion.

The AI vehicles that are not Class 8 is not what SCS is making money off of. Look at it like this....the vehicles you drive as part of the game are the vehicles you may be required to get a license for. Maybe it depends on the game and the company developing it. In 18 WoS, SCS in not that same indie company anymore so they can't get away with things like that anymore. Their platforms have made series strides and a different approach is now necessary to stay legal as the trucks are the feature of the game. The Tesla and the Wrangler are just part of the game.

Heck, there are a ton of A.I cars that actually look veeery similar to their real world counterparts, it surprises me pretty often! Volvo XC90's... for example, some of the vans out there... many of them look better than expected! I love it!

That's not true, that version of the Lonestar isn't the one that made it into the game, the current Lonestar is based on the refreshed model they made around 2017. The older model's pre-refresh, biggest visible difference in the blogpost is the bumper, but the most notable difference is that it had a completely different interior, the newer model was standardized to the LT interior. Sure it's not at the level of the Old & New Cascadia's, but it's certainly not the Lonestar that's in the game today by any means.
Re: Come on SCS! We need Cascadia 2016 too =)
^I am talking about the trim itself, not the physical SCS model. I've followed the Lonestar since it was teased on the ATS teaser thread. I know its not the same model from 2016. The Lonestar can't be mistaken for anything else though. The model we have is made from scratch but its pretty much the same gen. That 2016 model looks so bad because it didn't have CAD files to reference for accuracy. There will always be slight changes in each model year to year until the generation is completely reworked in a more noticeable fashion. The old Cascadia however can't be mistaken for the new Cascadia. Every truck on that 2016 blog is distinctive enough to know that what we have in the games, is pretty much what's on that blog.

Exactly, the DAF XF Euro 6 in ETS2 is essentially two different trucks combined in one. Just some slight changes. Lonestar could be treated that way, except that we have only the newer version.
But the 2015 Cascadia... well, it might have the same intenals as the new one but it’s completely different with respect to appearance, and everyone could agree to that. From a consumer’s point of view, visuals are the first thing people are attracted to. More the variety, more pleased the consumer is. The ATS map is a better analogue. The map could have gone towards the east after NM, but it didn’t, coz of the need of variety in visuals. Hence we got Oregon.
Hence for that simple reason - appearance, I feel that the case of the Old Cascadia cannot be compared with the Lonestar.
