Why doesn't physics work at ATS? non-functional "Runaway Ramps"

#1 Post by jyry » 06 Dec 2020 14:35

I believe that the basis of the simulator is a physical model. Unfortunately, it doesn't work at all in ATS. A shocking example is the non-functional "Runaway Ramps". Isn't it silly to add "Runaway Ramps" to a game even if it doesn't work at all?
Here's how stupid the game behaves: :(

SCS expands the maps, although the basis of the game is completely wrong.
Is there any chance that ATS will ever be a simulator with real physics?
What does ATS game simulate?
There is so little simulation in this game, that calling it a simulator is a bit of a scam.

Since we don’t have brake failures in game, the runaway ramps are useless anyway. It would be nice to have a much higher friction to be functional tho.
I have approximate knowledge of many things

We kind of have brake failure with the overheating of brakes. It doesn't makes the truck unstoppable though

Are you surprised that the physics are garbage? It isn't one of their strong points, especially when none of them know how to drive a semi themselves.

The physics is much better if you don't play with the default settings.
What I say is mostly accurate.

Going on work trips to bring you guys new trucks, trailers... and maybe more?

I don't know much about this stuff. What settings specifically do I need to change to get "much better physics"?

(I'm not really looking for realism myself. I play with mouse and keyboard ... just curious! :))

We do? :o

I've only had air pressure run out :?

Hmm couldn't the runaway truck ramps be quite easily fixed. I'm no pro modder but couldn't you theoretically exchange the surface of the ramps to some kind of heavy friction surface? I am sure there must be such an option in the map editor. Right now it seems like they are using regular dirt road surfaces.

Put all the sliders to the left for Trailer Stability, Truck Stability and Suspension Stiffness (and Cabin Suspension Stiffness for ETS2).

This.

There's always room for improvements but since 1.33 physics got much better.
Best Regards.
