Truck & Industry News
Re: Truck & Industry News
The challenge in commercial trucks though is the mandated safety systems now that all require ECU support to function....my guys are pulling their hair out daily and the factories aren't easy to deal with on it even though they know exactly what the problem is lol.

Another PR disaster for them and I have no idea why GM still works together with them
Take it with a grain of salt nothing is 100% sure
Re: Truck & Industry News
Autonomous truck testing in live traffic....this tech is rapidly advancing, next year could see some real game changes introduced for the industry in North America if the legislators can catch up with the industry....

welp, there goes our dream job.
Re: Truck & Industry News
It will be at least a decade before there is any significant change and longer than that before there is a potential reduction of employees....for the foreseeable future, every law is going to require that a driver is still behind the wheel to take over in the event of a system failure.

Re: Truck & Industry News
If they wont let planes fly themselves without a pilot watching over I doubt they'll let a truck drive itself on a busy freeway inches from commuters without a driver there to take over if needed.

Re: Truck & Industry News
That demo was carefully planned and executed for a film shoot on a section of Chinese highway not yet open to the public. The tech is awesome and capable of a lot, but for a better idea of what we have on public roads today check out this article where a FreightWaves reporter came to the bay area and took a ride with one of my coworkers. These systems that work like an airliner autopilot are more likely to see widespread adoption long before true driverless trucks turn the industry on its head.Robinicus wrote: ↑12 Aug 2021 18:16 Autonomous truck testing in live traffic....this tech is rapidly advancing, next year could see some real game changes introduced for the industry in North America if the legislators can catch up with the industry....
