Double State DLC

#1 Post by The Torgo » 24 Dec 2020 02:38

Since the states in the eastern part of the US are smaller in area, eventualy we're going to get a doble state dlc.

Let's play some predictions here, which combination will be feature first?

LA/AR would make sense for an eastward DLC after OK. I don't know if LA/MS or AR/MS would be good ideas, though. In either case, you'll end up with a big gap; it should be easy to get around, but it would still be a gap, nonetheless. Now MS/AL following LA/AR would be a good idea. Those two combined have about the same area as Nevada, and they go together well.

I agree with rbsanford on Ar/Ms. Ms/Al is definitely the better choice. Of the choices though, I've favorited Ar/La for the past year or so. Therefore it gets my vote. Surrounds Texas better if Oklahoma is in place.

I went with Louisiana/Arkansas. That paves the way for a Mississippi/Alabama DLC, since it's likely that Georgia and Florida will be standalone releases.

AR-LA would work as combo same with AL-MS similar size to Colorado. KY-TN would work as well along with IN-OH, but FL and GA will be seperate states same with Iowa and Missouri.

what's the standard for making a combo dlc? is it based on number of cities? areas covered? road miles?

Compactness of region, road miles, regional scenery, land area, the road network layout. SCS could really build these states one at time and probably be fine doing so up to certain size. Think research the team does will make difference as well too. Alabama would have more complicated city and road layout than Wyoming, but 1:20 scale will likely limit it to 8-9 cities same with Mississippi. They will need to nudge the density of roads tad more east of Texas.
