ATS 1.41 Speculation Thread
Re: ATS 1.41 Speculation Thread
I think the purpose of the speed limits in WoT contracts is to mimic the limits actual trucking companies place on their drivers, which is generally around 62 - 67 mph. That's how I've always understood it.

I thought it was to make sure that players in ATS don't go much faster during events than those in ETS2. The highest speed limit in ETS2 is 120 km/h, IIRC, which is close to 75 mph, but most of the map has lower speed limits, there are a lot of tollbooths and twisty roads, and I know that the Scania S at least is limited to 90 km/h, or 56 mph, so overall players in ETS2 will generally be driving slower than those in ATS. So the limiter for ATS jobs would help in leveling the playing field if there were an event involving a competion between the two playet bases, and I think that's a pretty good idea for such events, but it'd be great to at least have the limiter raised to 75 mph or so.

Did you cast your vote here? I totally agree on the statement about empty pallets and used wrapping. Its way over done and we totally lack cargo in ATS. 50% is wayyyy to high. Those should account for 10% at the most but we need a lot more cargo added to the game. ETS2 doesn't suffer from this issue like ATS does. We don't even have cardboard bale cargo and it goes along with wrapping and pallet. That would help offset a little.
I also agree with the speed limits. It doesn't make sense to me either and I have always hated it. Main reason why I avoided WoT for so long but at the same time, you get real time minutes/hrs to complete a delivery so its a damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we don't have limits in Freight Market/Cargo Market, why make limits for WoT and Cargo WoT? Let the players dictate the speed they go. I too thought the WoT speed limit was because of ETS2.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

I thought they added the speed limit for realism? I personally never go over 65 mph with a loaded truck anyway, so it doesn't bother me.
I always felt like the time limits on WoT contracts were much more relaxed than the regular cargo market contracts, especially since you can take as many rests as you want.

Yeah the rest periods is why I started doing more WoT jobs. I typically max out at 60mph no matter what I'm playing. I also set my cruise control to 55mph a lot. California as a whole has 55mph max so I just got use to cruising at 55mph everywhere. Playing cargo or freight market does make you speed to beat the clock if you play with fatigue on if you don't rest before picking up a job. But its much more relaxing to play WoT when you can cruise and take your time. Especially when new map expansion come.

Denver CO to Carlsbad CA it takes same amount of time or little less using I-25 to I-40 and then I-17 in Arizona to I-10 in California. I-70 is very scenic route just alot slower driving speed and lots of having to make speed adjustments or brakes. Sometimes flatter and longer will save time.
WOT should raise it 70 mph and rework logistic so get more realistic spawn ratio of cargo.

@flight50 I voted now
About speed limits, there is 90 speed limit in ets2 wot contracts too. It is comfortable and realistic there, because there is actually no country on the continent where trucks allowed to drive faster than 90. But in ATS it's fair unrealistic, maybe companies do regulate speed limits in their fleet in terms of fuel economy, but owner operators are free to do whatever the speed limits allows them and I follow few truckers on youtube and I see them normally cruise at 70-75mph.
Also the point about making events competition between ets2 and ats players fair doesn't seems for me to be what was devs idea behind it since 65mph is 104kph.

Far as WoT goes I think 70 is fast enough. I normally run between 65 and 68 mph in game.

It seems I’m the only one, who most of the time are driving in 55 miles per hour.
