what do you use for speakers?

#1 Post by jeefAD » 08 May 2021 21:16

Curious what others find to work well for truck sim'ing?

I do use a decent set of open-back headphones, but still find them a little "close" at times. Some room audio would be nice. I've tried an old cast-off set of Logitech speakers, but find them too harsh and leaves me thinking the game would benefit from some low-end...

For folks that have do have a subwoofer in the mix, what are your thoughts?

I use a 3.1 surround sound during the day and a Logitech G935 if I'm playing late at night. https://ibb.co/qsbCbsM

I've just got a Logitech 2.1 system. Nice thing about having some bass is that you can feel the engine.

Dig the RGB @GinXeng! Which 3.1 system?

That's what I was thinking @Grizzly. The cast off Logitech's I have kickin' around are just too fizzy. No low-end for the W900. ;)

I was all set on the Logitech G560 when it was launched, but at $229 and some iffy reviews/software issues that appear to impact sound quality I became hesitant. The subtle RGB lighting would be fun tho!

Maybe something like the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 set. It has great reviews and does go on sale from time to time. Currently $199 so actually cheaper than the Logitech G560 (sans RGB of course).

A passing thought was a 2.1 soundbar + sub kit for something less "speaker-y" if I wanted something more sleek...

My sim rig is standalone from my desk, but I could look into extending the audio setup from there with another set of powered monitors. Something like the Presonus 3.5" are only $149. I have a 10" sub in that setup...

Microlab SOLO 6C, good enough sound and stereo. I don't care about multi-channel, I'm more into music than movies.
I have approximate knowledge of many things

I'm a recovering audiophile. I've got a pair 2nd hand B&W 805s with a big Marantz amplifier. My audio system costs more than my PC.. I also have have headphones (Sennheiser HD600, what else) but I do not like playing with headphones on. Any problems in stereo imaging are magnified 10 fold if you listen via headphones.
