How realistic is it?
How realistic is it?
Hi guys,
I love playing ATS (100+hrs).
Since I am non-American, non-truck driver, I wonder about how close to reality a transportation payments are in this game? And also time consuming?
As in the screenshot, Is it true that a driver can earn more than 80 grand for a transportation from OR to NM?
And also, the time it takes of in-game driving in the game is true in real life?
Sorry my English.
Have a good weekend truckers.

The scale of the ATS map is 1:20, so the driving time would be about 20 times shorter than in real life.
The in-game time also goes faster than in real life

nice, thank you guys.
I thought the pay was that high in reality, then I would change my dream into becoming an American truck driver.

If the wages were as high as what they are in the game, then one can forget about driver shortages, and profitable companies. This speculation alone almost warrants short 'fan fiction' in regards to the potential effect on the US economy. Would you be ok with paying $4000 for a week's shopping, as an example?
The graphics engine is over 10 years old. Whilst it is still acceptable in the graphics department, it will need a facelift by the mid to late 2020s.
If you want ultimate realism, breakdowns, accurate wages, 1 in 1 scale, immersiveness with deliveries and everything else, then you could always apply to become a truckie.

ATS is very entertaining but it is far from being a Simulator.
Re: How realistic is it?
^I can agree with that. ATS is very fun and relaxing. As is, its still arcadish with some Sim elements to it. If the new WoTr ever kicks in, we could get a little closer to a Sim as it could focus deeper into a trucker's life. It would be more of a hardcore version of what we have now.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: How realistic is it?
This new playthrough I'm using an economy mod that greatly reduces my income, because I enjoy semi-plausible trucking tedium. My character has just bought their first proper truck, it really felt earned! I now dread running a red light.
The only other mod I use is one that changes the glowing green icons into discarded soda cans and the like, and removes the visual aspect of the glowing road barriers so everything on screen looks as it should.

Also, does the WPass (Weigh station pass thru) inside the cabin really work like that in real life? If not, how do you know when to pull over for a weight inspect?
