I guess you've never used a GPS that has the Avoid features like, "No toll road, no highways, no restricted roads etc.."

@GinXeng I have. But that is not the feature @Lynodie described.

In real-life, you can buy a truck-specific GPS that knows and avoids all the roads that trucks aren't allowed on. Perhaps it could be an option added that can be enabled/disabled via the gameplay options.

And as those GPS are noticeably more expensive, lots of truckers end using regular ones... and then from time to time; there's that kind of news about a truck stuck in the middle of some weird places.

I agree that this sort of thing should really be either marked on the map or avoided by the GTS. That having been said, most cases of this in ATS do have signage warning you before you turn onto the road in the first place - at least, there's definitely signage near Carson City and Fort Collins (dunno about Oakdale) . And being penalized for going onto an illegal route because you weren't paying attention to the signage is a perfectly valid thing to represent in ATS.

I tested this like a month ago. There is no fine at Crater Lake. It's treated like a simple toll road, and if you're on a Quick Job, your boss will even pay for it.

I'm not talking about a RL feature of the route advisor or something. Open the map ingame and have a look at the right side and you will find a checkbox for adding roads to the "avoid" list. I was talking about that the game doesn't adds that list to the saved game. So if you continue to play the next day for example then you have to add again all the roads that you don't want to use.

I had to deliver a shipment from Carson City to Northern California (don't remember where exactly) and the GPS' marked road was actually the one that goes through Yosemite. Read the sign too late and decided to go on. Just one fine and you're on your way. As long as you don't crash the truck in the mountain pass or fall to your death, you'll be fine though
