Me too. Wouldn't Vulkan make more sense so that there's only one graphics API used instead of keeping the DX/OpenGL API they have now?

it wouldnt make sense if Consoles are also in mind, wich SCS certainly has and Vulkan wont help at all, the Xbox uses DirectX12 and the PS4/5 use some Frankenstein API SCS would have to port anyway, same most likely for the Switch

Yeah if they're aiming at consoles it does make it a bit difficult, for linux we can probably run dx12 on proton ok. Not sure where that'd leave mac.

If they're aiming to add consoles in the future, will they still continue to update ATS/ETS2 for PCs?
Re: Next Generation Of The Game Engine And DX12 Support
I'd assume so, they have a lot of customers already. It might bring in more money and allow more investment, when the Wreckfest developers made a ps5 port with extra eye candy they came back to the PC game and added the extra eye candy there too.
I don't know how seriously they are considering consoles though, if at all.

If they are aiming for DX12 they are aiming for consoles seriously. Otherwise they know very well they would be as performant going Vulkan only buy way more efficient in times of time, efforts and money invested in the development.
That doesn't change the fact we are talking about things that require several years to develop fully, if they ever pass the cut from proposals to accepted projects.
