Next Generation Of The Game Engine And DX12 Support

#1 Post by trainguy_gaming » 29 Jul 2021 00:18

This is just a poll, asking if you're excited about the next generation of the game engine and DX12 support. I gotta say, I am SOOO EXCITED about the next generation of the game engine and DX12 support for three reasons:

1. I'm excited to see what SCS has in plan to do or to add with the game engine
2. I'm excited to have higher framerates/better performance
3. I'm excited to see what SCS, as well as graphic modders that make graphics mods, will be able to do to make the game more and more realistic.

Just an FYI on the poll for this thread, selecting both Yes and No at the same time when allowed to select up to 2 options makes no sense

@Jacksonshaulage1 Pavel actually confirmed that DX12 is already being worked on. This information was revealed during the Daf XG/XG+ release stream.

I voted yes without a doubt. Like jarryed said, Pavel just announced this back in June that it is in the works. For those of you that don't believe in SCS or know how they operate, Pavel will not have mentioned what he said if it was 12+ months out. The soonest we can see something is end of the year. But by next summer, we should have it beta. It should be implemented just like DX11......beta. We won't go full out DX12 right away. It has to be ran in beta for months until it is stable. I don't expect anything any different than the way DX11 was introduced.

For those thinking SCS just started DX12 programming, you have a lot to learn. SCS more than likely worked it for years. They know they can't stay behind. Pavel will only mention something when enough is done to start seeing a finish line. No point in telling us DX12 is coming and it be 3-4 years away. 12-18 month and DX12 should be here.

I'm definitely excited to see where this leads ATS/ETS2.
