Volvo Machines DLC
Re: Volvo Machines DLC
The issue with a 3 axle lowboy and the wheel loader is that SCS can't assume people will use a 8x4. I a 8x4 daycab as my main truck regardless of load. So it works for me. But many people may not want a 8x4. Yet alone, a 8x4 sleeper.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
Does the 8x4 daycab carry more weight? Is there something like that in the game? Increasing the weight capacity for the 3-axle lowboy is also a solution. After all, we can carry more than 50,000lb for box trailers. For single lowboys, the 80,000lb limit is fine.
There is already a fine at the control stations for excessive weight in the game, isn't it?

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
There are no such limits in the game, you could haul the heaviest cargo + the longest trailer with a 4x2 truck and nothing will stop/fine you

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
Nothing stops you as JoeAlex23 says, but to carry too much weight with a non proper axle config can cause traction problems and tire slippery under certain more-demanding conditions (high slopes, wet tarmac, dirt paths...)
Re: Volvo Machines DLC
Fair number of Volvo powered construction equipment up my way in Maine. I won't say it's more common than CAT, because it's not. But it's not completely unheard of either.bobgrey1997 wrote: ↑23 Sep 2021 16:35 Is it just me or is this game becoming nothing but a large-scale commercial?
To me, this DLC is counteractive to the immersion, as these machines are almost non-existant in the US. I have never seen this kind of equipment from Volvo before. I have obviously seen their VNLs (one of the most common trucks in the US), but have only seen 3 Volvo cars, and no such equipment. Maybe SCS should be looking after licensing with Deere and Caterpillar instead of trying to force this Eurocrap into ATS.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
Maybe these do exist in the US, probably in certain regions. However, Caterpillar would be an infinitely better, more immersive DLC.
Different I suppose for different parts of the US.
I'd definitely be down with JD, CAT, or another major brand coming in.

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
Here in "flyover country" I saw all kinds: JD, Cat, Komatsu, and Volvo. We even saw a pretty big Volvo digger working on fixing up the creek banks by our house, then putting rip-rap along it.bobgrey1997 wrote: ↑23 Sep 2021 16:35 Is it just me or is this game becoming nothing but a large-scale commercial?

I think that, like the trucks, once a manufactuer comes into the SCS world, more will follow. Obviously, SCS isn't going to say anything until a deal is inked.
Maybe instead of just complaining, be happy SCS keeps adding really nice goodies for us.

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
"Nice" is subjective.
Also, that post was 5 days and as many pages ago.
As for complaining, if someone has opinions about something, they are well within their rights to display them, regardless if they are negative or positive.
I only stated SCS should go after something more common in the US for ATS, instead of just porting whatever ETS2 gets over. It is a different game on a different continent, so it should have unique content. I wouldn't mind seeing these European brands show up once we've got the more common brands.
They didn't release the Krone Trailers for ATS. They also didn't release a Utility Trailers Pack for ETS2 (I do hope to see this in ATS). While bith brands are likely present in both Europe and the US, Krone is very rare here, and from what I've seen, Utility seems to very rare in Europe.
We don't even have the same fictional companies in both games, despite many of them representing real companies that are in both places.
Based on what others have said, yes, Volvo equipment is a thing in the states, but is by far not all too common, especially compared to CAT. I just think SCS should've gone for CAT before Volvo.

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
Who knows, maybe they did. Doesn't mean that CAT would agree, particularly as SCS has to change a bunch of models in the past that were too close to CAT models. That may even have been the result of a cease and desist letter. If so CAT may not be inclined to grant licenses to SCS at the moment.
I for one am happy with whatever licensed DLC they can deliver. I'd rather have Volvo now, than nothing until CAT comes out in 4 years time for example.

It would never make sense if Freightliner wasn’t approached at all before releasing ATS, right? They might have considered CAT too, but we may not know what happened behind the scenes.
In the end it cargo brands doesn’t matter much as trucks do, any truck miss is a miss and any cargo brand added is a cargo brand added.

Re: Volvo Machines DLC
CAT had their own branded tycoon game (it was terrible), and some other "sim" released at the tail end of the nineties. Haven't seen them in an official capacity in a game since. I know they have their own line of simulators for professional training. These sims look like they're straight out of a 2008 Gamebryo game. Maybe they would be open to a license deal, who knows. It was said Deere weren't interested, yet GIANTS finally pulled it off. It'll probably be expensive though. Especially if there is no prior relationship involved.
