Re: Do you use mods?
146 in ATS, 132 in ETS2, had over 200 in ETS2 but 1.40 forced some drastic cutbacks.
Re: Do you use mods?
I enjoy hauling b-doubles, but I wanted something a little more challenging so I created a b-triple and some other trailer configurations that aren't possible in game. Then I created some mods to remove trailer restrictions (axles, weights etc) so I can haul my modded trailers anywhere I want lol. California has way too many restrictions so I essentially made it more enjoyable. I use mods to customize other settings too, and I could put them all in one big mod file, but I created a separate one for each setting to make them easier to manage.
Re: Do you use mods?
So apparently only 20% of people don't use mods.
Some people were saying they didn't think more than 20% used mods. I ventured a guess of 50%+, they called me crazy.
Sure, too early to say for sure, only 72 votes. But the 80/20 ratio has been steady since the voting began, I've been following.
I'll say it again: SCS should place modding (and everything related to it) higher on their list of priorities.

Re: Do you use mods?
Small amount in ATS - just promods and sound fixes.
In ETS2 - promods, sound fixes and my small truck/trailer edits.
Used to have lots more mods but both games have dropped out of the 'games I care about' club.

Re: Do you use mods?
@JeeF just note that this poll contains only forum user votes and (at least for now) a very minimal portion of them. In addition, from the psychological point of view, topic title will discourage most vanilla players from visiting it, let alone voting.
I do recall SCS themselves mentioning it multiple times that vast majority of the playerbase doesn't use any mods at all. I'm not sure what is the base for this statistics, (or if it's still valid information today) but I also don't think SCS would lie in this matter.
As for me, I'm using a minimal number of mods, usually adding a single custom paintjob for the truck I'm currently running and a small parts pack fixing/adding truck parts SCS did wrong/forgot to add.

The smallest details always make the biggest difference.
Re: Do you use mods?
Used to have tons of mods back when i was younger (From 2013 to 2016). I stopped playing ETS2 for a while, got back to the game in 2018 (also bought ATS at that year), saw how much it evolved and decided to abandon mods. After I've only used SiSL's cabin accessories and Kriechbaum's sounds for a while then decided to go full vanilla.
If something goes wrong, mods are just one more thing to give you headaches while trying to fix the issue... They're not worth the effort and since most of the stuff that i had with mods are now available with vanilla, there's no reason for me to use any of them anymore.

Re: Do you use mods?
^Agreed. The more SCS adds to vanilla, the more mods I have trimmed out over time. You guys with 100+ mods, oh my, lol. That's a lot to keep up with. I thought I had a lot when I was running like 20-25 mods. I cut mine down in half since 1.32 came. Engine sounds from SCS may never be where most of us like them. In general, the engine sounds are the only reason why I can't go full vanilla. Its tough for me to play seriously in open beta.
In regards to the poll numbers, the forum represents a very very small portion of players. This poll is not even remotely close to accounting for all players.
From the in game players currently, to the 24 hr peak to the owner estimations.....80 votes or even if this thread got 1,000 votes, it will never represent the entire fan base which is in the millions.

My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Do you use mods?
@Wolfi Valid points. But I wonder... how can SCS know the % of playerbase using mods? Is there code inside the game monitoring how we play and reporting back?

Re: Do you use mods?
@55sixxx - In 2016 SCS provided support for the Steam Workshop and also allowed a format for modders to minimize the disruption when updating to a new game version (e.g. specifying versions of the mod to a specific game version or disabling the mod from running in an open beta).
It's the responsibility of modders to follow the format (I use it myself), but mods can be worth the effort that way if the modder is responsible, and especially if it's a type of mod that doesn't create a save game dependency. Not every mod uses the Steam Workshop though, but I welcome the support for it.

Re: Do you use mods?
Generally no.
I temporarily used a small mod in ETS2 to make the UI more colorblind friendly, but I disabled that one pretty quickly. I've never used one in ATS.
I'm not, like, morally opposed to them or anything. I'm just kinda obsessive about consistency and have a terrible computer, and neither of those things are conducive to mods. I'm also not overly bothered by most of the things people take issue with, but I'm glad there's an outlet for people who are.
I might try Promods Canada when it gets further along. Maybe.
